I guess it depends how you look at it - still affordable & only a few £s each BUT still an awful lot above inflation!
Maisie's may be a different matter ...........
How old are they now rising?
They increased the premiums for Winnie by 43% in 2011 when she was 120 -

5 & 8
TBH I was expecting Archie's to go up more than that as his birthday is in November so only just sneaks into their renewal window before an extra year goes on!
They are def going up though as Archie was £7.29 this year at age 7 and Mia's is now nearly that at age 5Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -

FYI - this topic should be covered on Radio 4's You and Yours on 5th Sept (this Thursday) - I was interviewed by them today about my case and they're trying to get hold of Axa for a statement. 12-1pm, after the news.0

I made 3 claims this year, with payouts amounting to £854, the last of which was for £360 a congential cataract that has just been diagnosed. Obviously I have declined the renewal, but now find myself with a young dog with a congenital cataract which will now be uncoverable.
Basically Axa has increased my premiums so much (that's 7 times as much as last year) so that I have to leave. Not quite sure what to do - absolutely shocked and disgusted, given that I paid more to get lifetime cover. I called Axa and they said that it wasn't a mistake and that was the best quote they could give. I asked if it had anything to do with Axa pulling out of the market but the clerk said nothing.
I will make a complaint to Axa, as well as report it Ombudsman, Sunday Times, etc...
Did you have any joy with the ombudsman over your pet insurance premium hike with AXA? I'm in the same boat with my renewal quadrupling - it's ridiculous0 -
Hi,
I have just received my renewal for my 2 year old border collie.
I was paying £9.04 a month. The new price is £9.93 so i am quite happy with that. I have never needed to claim in the 2 years.0 -
I gave up pet insurance after an incident with Animal Friends, instead I've been paying £100 a month into a savings account for the past 3 years ish. This is less per month than I was quoted for cover on my two.
I realise that this sum could be eaten up pretty quickly in the event of a serious illness but I couldn't justify giving even more per month to a company that used every excuse it could find to wriggle out of payment.
Up to now I've been lucky & they're pretty healthy.... touch woodAlways try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
