Do you wear clothes your partner/ OH doesn't like?

My hubby will think nothing of telling me he doesn't like something, and usually give me a far too truthful reason why he doesn't like it!
If I like it though I wear it, if he was the type to ask me to not wear certain things I doubt we'd be married!0 -
When we first met he would say 'you look charming tonight' (*sigh*) but later when I was a SAHM I know I used to dress frumpy and he would occasionally say if he thought something didn't suit me. Now I think I know what I look good in and have a bit more disposable income to spend on clothes, so would be a bit hurt if he disliked something.
I on the other hand (double standards), have a great long list (in my head, it's not written down anywhere) of clothing I would not like to see him in, including baseball caps, flipflops, poloshirts, T shirts with unfunny slogans, nylon....
Happily, he agrees with me.

I think me and my husband have similar tastes, because I like what he wears and he likes what I wear.
However, I certainly wouldn't find it acceptable to be told not to wear something. Or even suggested not to wear somethingEarly retired - 18th December 2014

I pretty much know when my husband doesn't like what I'm wearing but tbh that's pretty rare... Like some people on here I will wear my baggy very unattractive clothes when I feel like it, but he might argue that that's when I look my best haha! Charming lol!Married my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0

I dont have an OH but Ive been in a couple of relationships where everything I wore got criticised, that and my hair as well.
I dress to please myself and I dont think Ive got terrible taste in clothes.
Which was rich because one of my exes used to wear jogging pants (grey), t shirts (grey), his hair was also grey, he was grey from top to toe and that was up to him, but when someone says you dress terribly and they are welded to the same pair of grey joggy bottoms you just think crack on Gok Wan.0 -
My DH never notices what I wear. I could stand there starkers and say 'Take me now!' and he'd say 'Ooh look, a really interesting website about Landrovers ...'"Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

An ex said to me a long time ago, when I was unemployed and waiting for my money to come through so I literally had about 30p left to my name after paying the rent, bills and food, as we walked back past an expensive dress shop "why don't you buy a dress like that?"
When I replied that I couldn't afford it, he actually said "why?"
Sometimes I really wonder.0 -
I doubt he even notices what I wear. I just had to point out to him that he'd been wearing his shirt inside out all day. OH does like pretty much all my clothes though, as he picks them all. I hate clothes shopping and he is pretty good at picking out stuff that suits me, so I just tell him how many things to buy and he runs off.0

Sounds like my OH. I have often stood in front of him after stepping straight out of the shower to be met with 'Look at this page on gearbox ratios' :rotfl:0 -
It depends what it is, something casual like a pair of shorts, I would wear them anyway, but if we were going out for a night I wouldn't wear something I knew he really didnt likeThe opposite of what you know...is also true0
