On the whole my ex was always complimentary of my dress sense. He would pass comment about my wardrobe, often about the cost and frequency of new purchases, occasionally over the style of something ;)

I listened to his opinions, accepting that maybe he was seeing something that I didn't, in terms of how an item fitted me and whether it was flattering or not. Sometimes he was right, other times we agreed to disagree. A persons style is a very personal choice and a reflection of their personality and individuality. Partners don't fully agree on everything, and don't need to.

My husband works away from home five days a week. He hates harem pants. In fact, I had never wanted any till he started saying how awful they are made me notice how comfortable they'd be! Today dh is many miles away and I am in my slouchy harem pants. :).

We do ask each others opinion. We don't tend to care what other people think (except in work situations) and can have quite eccentric tastes, but we like to please each other a bit.

Most of the daytimes that together at the weekend we are working in our garden though, and we where some shockingly awful clothes for that.

I always ask dh's opinion, he has great taste and quite frankly if he thinks I look good then thats all I require.
He used to love going shopping with me and would often pick me an outfit, more often than not something I would never have chosen, but looks fab.
He encouraged me to be braver with fashion and I always get compliments on my clothes.
He may sound a bit effeminate but I like to say he is just gay enough!
He on the other hand has many things I hate, mainly trackie bottoms, but he wears them for comfort so as long as he doesn't wear them out I dont mind.
I must confess to clothes I don't like of his being pushed to the bottom of the washing pile!
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

Absolutely. I dress to please myself so if I feel like slopping around the house in my old t-shirt and manky shorts I will. I would however change to go out shopping in case I saw someone I knew. :rotfl:
  • I have quite a few items that my OH doesn't like but I still wear them anyway! I have a lovely tea dress with an open back and a pair of polka dot fitted trousers, both of which he really doesn't like. But then again, he says he likes me most in jeans and a t-shirt so he has simple tastes :p

With regards to his clothes, he mostly wears jeans and a shirt/t-shirt so nothing fancy but they suit him :) I do wish he'd dress a bit smarter sometimes (He looks lovely in proper work clothes!) and I keep trying to persuade him to pick up a casual blazer/suit jacket or something but he isn't biting and shan't ever, I imagine! The only thing I really take issue with is that he refuses to go shopping for new clothes so a lot of his are worn & need replacing. Also, he continuously buys cheap jeans and shoes that only last him a few weeks before they break.
  • I can always tell when DH doesn't like something I'm wearing. In fact I can tell if I got something new to wear (doesn't happen often when I'm busting to be DF) if he'll like it or not before I show him.

Usually I override his horror of what I'm wearing with an I don't care stare or I make the decision to wear something I know he likes me in!
Some times you have to hold back to go forward to where you want to be.
