I made Twinks' hob nobs for the first time today and they are absolutely delicious, just wondering how long they will keep in a tin, OH doesn't really eat biscuits and whilst I could probably polish off a batch in a couple of day it probably wouldn't do my waistline much good :)

No not at 3830 calories a batch

Please help my Twinks! I haven't made these for a while & this time my mix is quite dry, they're not holding together well in small balls & have just cooked a couple & they're not spreading out like they normally do :( Shall I add more melted butter or something else?
    Thanks x

you need to mix in the margarine or butter quickly
  • I made some of these for a Boxing Day gathering. I used a mixture of butter and margarine (baking block) from Sainsbury's and for some reason, they didn't spread out in the oven. I panicked, and made up another batch of dough only using less butter but more margarine this time, as that's all I had left. I also possibly added a bit more bicarb, and this time they spread perfectly.

I tweaked the recipe by adding vanilla and almond extract, chopped dried cranberries and then, when cooled, dipped and drizzled in combination of very dark chocolate, melted with Terry's chocolate orange. I have to say they were heavenly and everyone at the gathering was very impressed. :-D

But the thing is, I've had the issue of them not spreading before so it would be be really helpful to nail down what specifically causes it....

The other thing besides cheesecake we are making are hobnobs.

I know there was a great recipe on here for them, but you think I can find that famous thread now? Of course not! Can anyone point me in the right direction?
