they could be aussielass, Mary Norwak calls them crunchies and says you get 60 from the recipe, i would get 50 max
maybe she based them on anzac biscuits
  • OMG this thread is fab, LOL!!:rotfl:

New question, does any one have a good recipe for digestives?

DH only eats cheese with these biscuits and we haven't got any. Doing GC so do not want to buy them. Also have got plenty flour (actually needs using as v.slightly out of date!).

    Await replies very eagerly!!

glad you like them, remember though, i am not responsible if everyone puts on a few pounds on their hips :D:p

I used to really like you twink:rotfl: :rotfl: But shoving my arm up my back and forcing me to make and eat these biscuits and well, feelings can change:rotfl: :D I've just made a batch with butter, and they are so lovely I've eaten too many and I feel sick:o And that's without the extra lard that will have settled on my hips by tomorrow:rolleyes: I filled the biscuit tin, and put it in the cupboard, but they keep cooing to me every time I walk past. Might have to send some to work with DS tomorrow.

My mouth thanks you for the recipe, the rest of me probably won't:p

this is the recipe i use
    8oz sr flour
    8oz sugar
    8oz porridge oats
    8oz margarine
    1tbsp golden syrup
    1tbsp hot water
    1/2 tsp bic soda
mix flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan stir in bic soda and add to dry mix, mix well, make smallish balls and put on greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork, 180oc for 15 mins, cool on the tray, you just want them golden in oven not brown
00h boy are these good! Thanks, Twink!

Edit LOL hadn't read the rest of the thread. Good to see there's a hobnob appreciation society happening here! (I used butter and a little extra water.)

i have never made digestive biscuits but these are from the same book as the hobnobs

    4oz plain flour
    8oz wholemeal flour
    1/2 tsp salt
    3oz margarine
    2oz lard
    2oz soft brown sugar
    1 beaten egg
    4tbsps water

sift the flours and salt into a bowl, rub in fat till mix is like fine breadcrumbs, mix in sugar, egg, and water to give a soft dough
roll out and into 2inch rounds, put on a greased tray and !!!!! with a fork

bake 180oc, gas 4 for 25 mins, lift off carefully and cool on a wire rack
    makes 50

choc digestive, melt 3oz plain choc and 1/2 oz butter and spread on base of biscuits when cold

Made them on Wednesday and we love them, thanks Twink. Now being the sad person that I am, I have just put the ingredients into the Weight Watchers Recipe builder web site and have caculated the points per biscuit, assuming you get 40 biccies out of the mixture. If you want me to let you know how many points they are, ask me, as I dont think i will just post them.......may be better off not knowing!!

skipkoo, you can get 50 biscuits from the recipe, i got 46 but that was cause i didnt want to use another tray, i have bought low fat soft marg for the next batch instead of a block of stork so will see how they turn out, but would be interested to know how many points they have, i think :D
