Yes it is!:)
We can stock up on decent red wine and beers from any Carrefour/Leclerc/Auchan or the wine warehouses up by the Centre Universitaire in Calais.
You can get decent CdR for 3 Euros or less, and the VdP wines are around 2 Euros a bottle.0 -
Ok, so ferry booked, car insurance is fine, the EHICC ordered, i need to check my policy for european breakdown... is travel insurance usually required for a day trip?
I think we might look at going to belgium and do some shopping at the end of the day, but head to bolonge direction before

Brilliant
It's not a trip to France without visiting a French supermarket! I don't smoke either.
You can get day cover for a day trip to France with your breakdown provider, we have done in the past.
I have free Nationwide cover, so I'm covered with health insurance.
Not been rude, but it's Boulogne
as I'm useless at spelling French place names I normally jot them down in my notebook before I go over so I don't end up in totally the wrong place. lol The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -
my breakdown is with Swiftcover, already spoken and they wanted an extra £44 to add european and wont do a days cover, but looking around and i can get a temp cover for about £10... might just do it, one of those things i doubt i will need, but the one time i dont have it, the car will pack up, lol0

All I have to add to whats already been said is be careful driving along the road to Rye!
Used to do day trips from Hastings all the time as a kid - driving that road with the sharp bends and steep hill is a killer with a car loaded full of plonk or when tired.
Last day trip we did was in October - we landed at Dunkirk and drove into Bruges.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
