You don't need breathalysers, beam deflectors are easy to DIY with tape.
you don't need breathalysers? I'm sure it's now a legal requirement.
yes I know there east to fit, but still cost money

ok all booked, car isurance is fine, breakdown was an extra £12 to include european cover, got hi viz and warning triangle already, and a spare bulb kit (always keep in the car anyway). beam deflectors cant be hard to find, and if breathalisers are needed, am sure i can pick some up from ebay :))

Thanks again for all the help. Now to work out how much i should take haha

It will be a full day out, so i will look into Touquet and Abbeyville :)

    Thanks again

AFAIK - They cancelled the requirement to have breathalysers or be fined, they left the requirement on the books but there's no penalty for not having them, unless they've changed it again.

I meant DIY beam deflectors made from duct tape

I'm near Hastings, south east coast... And its purely a day out, something different to sea, have dinner out, see some sights, check out the shops etc as we would going to Brighton... but budget would be important

If you're on a budget, I'd reckon on having lunch rather than dinner there as most restaurants have good value set meals at lunchtime.

Apologies if I'm stating the obvious but as you said you'd never been abroad before, you do have passports?

I do 3 day trips a year give or take. I reuse my headlamp detecters by removing them whilst headlights are warm, and sticking them back on the plastic.

Boulogne is a good choice, I like the aquarium and the old town there.

Good point about the cards and passport, but assuming that having a passport is common sense before going abroad.

and yes Le Touquet is a good choice also :)
