Try Celery Salt - but cut down on additional salt. Just read through other threads and seen someone has beaten me to it.
The thing with putting celery in a glass of water, (change water every 2 or 3 days) you can do the same with wilting rhubarb - brings it up lovely and crisp again. I look on them as a bunch of flowers with a purpose, don't bother to put them in the fridge though. If you trim off a very thin bit at the bottom of stalks, it helps them to take up the water better.0 -
i agree furndire the celery looks quite attractive in a large glass, you get nice soft green leaves growing, not sure if you could eat them, but it doesnt affect the celery any0

Hi Unixgirl,
If I've got some celery that's got too limp to use for salad, I find it's a really good flavouring for soup - if you've got an onion/garlic/cumin and some lentils, you could probably throw something together for lunch tomorrow, or freeze it for later.
Other than that, you could make a bolognaise mixture with it in and freeze that in portions.
HTH!

Thanks Rumbly. Haven't spoken to you for ages. How are you? Think I have some lentils, got an onion and garlic and cumin so think it might be that and freeze it. If I have Celery that's going a bit floppy, I tend to chop it and freeze it then use it in soups or stews straight from the freezer0

Hiya,
Carrot and/or tin toms would also go well with that if you've got any in.
I'm good thanks - playing Beatrice in Much Ado next week, so have been going a bit mad managing my time between rehearsals/baking for DD's birthday etc etc, and while I'm very excited about the play, am also looking forward to the last night, and being able to collapse and have some me time afterwards!
How are you doing - I recall you had some terrible news - and how's the recovery going with your lovely dog?

Celery & stilton soup. If you add enough cheese, you can't taste the celery. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Sounds exciting. Meesha's great now! The hysterectomy worked a treat, still paying for it though and now saving to get the heating repaired yet again but the pets come first. She was quite poorly after the op and persuading her to eat was a challenge. Though didn't tell her off when she nicked my dinner (pasta) 2 days after the op. So fed her on pasta, chicken, scrambled egg, complan and weetabix for a while just to get her to eat. She got lots of cuddles and even took one of my t-shirts (not an old one I hasten to add) for cuddling. Pet sitting at the moment and have added a retriever, a Gret Dane, a snake, some more fish and tadpoles to the mix. ............and yes it is a mad house!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera.
