Something about that picture doesn't add up, if you ask me!

If the medication is unlicensed you cannot get it here. Full stop.

(Especially not if you're an NHS patient, which it sounds like your sister is?)

I know this to be the case because a friend of mine asked to try a medication which is licensed in almost every other EU country except the UK and he cannot get it.

She's part of a research project as not much is known about the disease. They are trialling an unlicensed drug which is really helping her.

(I have another friend doing similar for a potential MS drug).

That's the problem. Only consultants directly involved in the research can prescribe the drug. She should be increasing her dose, but looks like she'll be stopping (and suffering) because of NHS cuts and the media circus at that particular hospital.

She could see the consultant privately, but obviously at massive cost and the second she does that the NHS will turn its back on her.

She's 32 and this drug has made the world of difference to her.

Ah, that would explain it.. If it's not readily obtainable it leaves her in a vulnerable position, by the sounds of it. (Like, if a Royal decides to give birth in the hospital your sister is being treated at :rotfl:)

I'd have thought Kate Middleton would give birth at an exclusive private hospital, not an nhs one with a private bit. Maybe the private ones don't provide good enough emergency cover, should something go awry.

Children don't have to be born into poverty. If you cannot afford children don't have them. It's perfectly possible to prevent a pregnancy by using contraception.

This kind of thinking makes me feel physically sick. It angers me too much to be able to articulate a proper response, so this will have to do.

Yep, got no time for the grumpy old miseries! I LOVE the Royals, and according to Sky news earlier, a recent poll confirms that over 80% of the Great British Public loves them. So stick THAT in your pipe and smoke it, militant lefties! :p The Royals are going NOWHERE! :D

The Royal family, Katie Price, Kerry Katona, ad infinitum. They can all exist, I don't wish them harm, but for the love of god I wish they'd all get out of my newspaper and off my tv. I'm bored of the lot of them

I had a medication which was 'off licence' last year. I couldn't get it on the NHS but could get it privately. It was licensed for cancer use, but I needed it for an eye condition. Private doctors can prescribe it for whatever they need to, but the NHS can only use it for what it is licensed for, and the drug companies wouldn't license it for what I needed it for as it was more lucrative for them to make a similar product, licence it for that use and sell it for much more. But as the NHS couldn't afford to buy it for that purpose I was left to go without the medication I desperately needed or buy it privately.

PMSL at some of the last few posts on here. People have such vivid imaginations. :D The things people will put to back up their irrational hatred of the Royals is hilarious.

Carry on doffing your cap, touching your forelock, servile righties! :D

I was interested to hear about the baby, though, as a typical Welsh mam. The younger generation seem lovely, but I don't want to pay for them.

I would like Charlie boy to pay his tax, too.

The royal family are a waste of space who cost far too much and give too little back.

Unlike any politician who would probably cost just as much

I think you'll find that in any private hospital when things go not according to plan, the dear old nhs picks up the pieces generally
