Great 'ways To Cut Back' Hunt

There's a new (to me) large fruit and veg market in Bath just up from Doncaster Street (the street that runs along in front of the train station) on the main street that runs in front of McDonald's. They're there four days a week--I think T/W/F/Sat. They are CHEAP and the quality of produce is very good. Last week I got a large punnet of raspberries for a pound (would have been at least 3 pounds at the store for that size), this week I bought 8 gala apples, a small punnet of raspberries, and 5 large ripe vine tomatoes for 2.50--the apples alone were only a pound. :j
It's just that much cheaper to diet....

Have nights in and invite your friends/family round instead of going down the pub. Encourage them all to do the same. Have quiz nights, watch the football matches... all at each others houses (perhaps make a rota?) Then rather than lining the pubs pockets, you go to the local cash n carry and buy alcohol in volume.
Absolutely! I did this recently. As I like to cook, I invited a couple friends round, and the deal was that I cooked, they brought wine. It was a splendid evening, more relaxed than we would have been at the pub, and I was out a lot less dosh. I'm planning on doing it once a month now.0 -
If reading the forum on a Laptop (which I am) do it using the batteries - should be good for 2 hours or more (depending on machine) must save a few pennies a year!0

Use your local library for internet access. Most (if not all by now) have free internet access. Free email is available through places like Google, Yahoo, Hotmail etc. They are all web accessible, so you can access it from any internet connection as the emails are stored on a server independent of the computer. Ideal for low use users and those who travel lots. Plus it's free.
I've never understood why anyone would spend money on an external hard drive. I use a few free web-based e-mail accounts and use them to store everything. It's free, and always accessible from anywhere. I also back up any important documents with them.0 -

Firstly you are relying on something over which you have no control so if their place goes up in flames or they go to the wall or have a major spike or are hacked into then you lose your back up! Not that likely, no, but personally I like to keep my files where I know exactly where it is and under my total control! Yes the above can happen to my PC but I know I am doing my utmost to prevent these eventualities, I have no idea who is looking after the server on a web-based email account.
Secondly you have to go online to retrieve any documents, which is not always possible eg at work I am not office based so when on laptop in mess room I can't get online. I have also encountered exchange/modem problems from time to time, at least on these occasions I can still access my docs.
External drives can be used to back up very easily - virtually instantly in fact - no need to go online and sign in and wait for upload/downloads.
Web based back-ups have their place but are not for everyone.

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! always carry cash in your pocket it has more impact than handing over a plastic card and you will value what you spend cash on.
You can budget with cash, cards are just to easy!
If you don't carry cash or cards then your Right:rotfl:0
