Why don't you just buy a pack of two chicken fillets, "show" them to your vegetarian curry, and then put them back in the freezer. That way, you get a vegetarian chicken curry for free...for life...

I like my chicken curries, casseroles etc to have chicken in!:rotfl:

Each to their own I guess...

Nice one, looneyleo:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • :D Get a awater meter in our area you can try it our for 1 year and if it doesn't work out cheaper for you then you canhave it taken out. Saves us about £20 per month

    and of course

Read everything Martin has to say:money:

Do you have to pay to have a meter installed? I live alone and I reckon it's a bit unfair that I pay the same water rates as my neighbours who have 4 adults in the house.

Jogging my moneysaving memory - essential oil on a bit of tissue in the vax instead of shake n vac/room fragrance, vinegar to clean the shower, only buying economy lines or reduced to clear items. Got some really posh sausages, rhubarb and a pot of cream yesterday for a couple of quid :) Make something with that worrall thompson LOL;)
Walk to town as much as possible as the busfare is anything between 65p and £1.20
I seem to be snowed under with magazines but only cos I got a few of the 3 issues for £1 offers, got freebies with them too - beach bag, travel wallet, washbag, also free haircut voucher, discount vouchers etc.
Just found on a catalogue bill that I have £9 to spend on whatever I want as a 'reward' should sort out dd's sports clothing list. :)These gifted children aren't very moneysaving
Contacted my gas co. and they agreed they were charging too much so my bill is £15 less a month.
As for the chicken discussion, a whole chicken is much more economical, you can make it last 3 or even 4 meals and make stock from the bones.
And Tesco value porridge beats oatso simple (baby food like gloop...) hands down for economy, taste and filling you up!

Cards can be made cheaply and are more personal.

The following handmade gifts are all things people got last christmas - christmas decorations, jewellery, gift jars of scented bath salts with little wooden scoops, homemade chutneys, jams and chocolates.

Dont throw food away, find a way of using it by looking up new recipes.

Dont buy recipe books, cut out recipes from the free magazines given away in supermarkets, collect recipe cards and look on the internet for new recipes. Type the word recipe and the foodstuff into google and see what comes up!

Try cutting down on meat, ive experimented with just buying veggies and having tinned tuna with a lot of things. Cook batches in bulk and then freeze in portions, convenient and fun to experiment.

Dont buy cakes and biscuits, they are incredibly expensive and so easy to make. I have cornflake cakes every lunchtime and they cost a few pence each.

Always check to see if stamps have been franked on your mail, soak or peel off any that havent and use again.

    QUOTE]

Have to agree that a whole chicken is far more economical. I have a sunday roast for a family of four, then use the stock to make soups, and use left overs to make curry etc. We usually get at least another full meal, 8 soup portion and a chicken salad lunch etc.

However, sometimes, if you haven't had the roast chicken on Sunday, I don't have time midweek to either bone the chicken for a curry, or do a roast etc so that's when I use fillets. I only ever buy when reduced and as I said before, make it stretch as much as possible, but not to the point of ridiculous!

Think you will find that is classed as fraud. But yes I do it too!
