I don't think anyone should be able to turn down something because they don't like it for sure. But I'd be sacked from a fast food place in two seconds again (i was so rubbish - ahem) and then not have any benefits anyway. I am right in thinking you can't claim for so long if you are actually sacked yes?
It's all very well saying beggars can't be choosers and the LT unemployed being forced to take pretty much anything but SOME common sense has to be employed.
Thankfully, these days I'd be considered too old and overqualified for McDonald's. Lol
You could be employed as a Customer Service Assistant at McDonalds (wiping down tables, throwing away rubbish). They employ older people to do that.0 -
True enough - But its unlikely I'd be picked seeing as I would still have the overqualified label to contend with. One of my pet hates is the overqualified label. If I wasn't prepared to do the job regardless of skill level/salary I wouldn't apply would I (rolls eyes).0

How do you get a cscs card if you're unemployed or have no recent experience,,, or any at all?
I ask because I see a lot of jobs requiring cscs and from what I gather you can only get them if already employed - or is that wrong? The only other way I could imagine would be through training (a college course maybe - something 'building' related)?0 -

Unemployed people are not beggars, and its not in anyones interest to be in a job they dont like and are not suited for. Its not fair on the person or the employer.
Its a better idea to find appropriate work for people and the right employees for the employer surely. Otherwize its just a waste of time for everyone.0 -

Er most people don't like their job. They do it because they are adults and have responsibilities. If you are on benefits, are able to do job X to the required standard, then you have a moral duty to do job X, regardless of whether you want to.
What a shock, look at the people agreeing with you.0 -

Call it how I see it. A core few on this board who don't want to work, see nothing wrong with benefit fraud and play the victim card at every chance they get. You will be the cause of your own downfall.
Even if you are correct in people not wanting to work, how do you know they see nothing wrong with benefit fraud? Are you slandering anyone here by accusing them of said offence? I do hope you have some evidence to back your claims up!
As for fraud, perhaps you need to look at WP providers including A4e (where several employees have recently been investigated and arrested for fraudulent activities). Or how about G4s and Serco. Far more dodgy than any benefit claimant.
These firms are deliverers of the WP amongst other contracts. Which Justice Secretary Chris Grayling has recently been shedding crocodile tears over regarding their ripping off the taxpayer with regards to tagging (or not) of offenders, some of whom were found to be dead, back in prison or overseas! When he was Employment Minister, he had no problem with the poor delivery of service when delivering the WP. Funny that.
Of course, these companies see fraudulent behaviour as second nature considering they offered non-existent courses under the WP's predecessor, New Deal. So when talking about fraud, please choose your targets more carefully.0 -
