I've worked hard to get my job. The 'bloke next to me' is responsible for his own actions and consequences as a result.

You fail to grasp the concept of taking personal responsibility and the impression that creates, instead focussing on what someone would do if you did nothing and how nasty they'd be. It's a blinkered mindset that will doubtless se you unemployed for a long time to come and cause you more problems than it will protect you from. Fully expect you'll retort with more of the same, but truth is it's you that's living with what you see in the mirror each morning. It's you who truly knows how likely it is your position will change doing what you're doing.
yes i am going to retort in some way and here it is, you have dodged the point just like a politician does.

Doesn't make it right? Even if it's doesn't state overtime or flexibility in JD's which it likely would if there's an expectation it would be required, it's common sense theres a reason for it to be done. Who would see themselves out of a job on the basis it's not right? Try to answer that from the perspective of the business, not someone who expects others to take responsibility.
yes the work needs to be done but they can employ more staff or contract some work out. both result in more jobs, more jobs means more spending, which means a more secure flow of work coming your way.

Not at all, where did you get that idea from?
if a person has a different opinion to yourself you put them in the moron category. we know this because of the insults you direct at them.

or claim they are moaning, trying to do the minimum possible, yet when it's the jobcentre or the various WP companies they can do no wrong

today was the day for me to start my computer course. i was told it would be every wednesday afternoon. that was a lie. i turned up today expecting to start only to get told all i would be doing is a questionaire to find out what i know and what i dont know. why couldnt they have given me this to do at home? i had also been made to believe i would work on it as quickly or slowly as i wish. today i discovered its 30 hours which have to be done in 3 weeks. so much for working at my own pace then. it didnt occur to me at the time but when i finally start next week i will look forward to asking what if i get the work done before the 30 hours is up.

the people at this place are fairly decent but they have fibbed alot. when i did a course with them a few weeks ago it was going to be 2 days then it turned into 4 days. then we were told we would see a job coach once a fortnight. that turned into weekly. i am going to see how this level 1 course goes, if its ok i will do level 2 but if more p**s taking happens i will try to resist doing the level 2 course.

Sounds like you're being managed more closely of late which can only be a positive thing.

it may seem like that but no that isnt the case. i am a person who is never going to work in an office doing a basic computer course. how is that a good thing for anyone except the provider who will get a load of cash.
