You are the one claiming its free money0 -
There are many reasons why people become long term unemployed. In some cases it is due to bad attitude but you can't tar everyone with that brush, no matter how much you want to sensibleadvice.
Age discrimination is rife. Anyone over the age of 50 has virtually no chance of getting another job due to nothing other than their age. Being overqualified is another barrier difficult to overcome. Oh sure, one can dumb down their cv but what do you put in its place? How would I, for example, explain away my PhD and postdoc work spanning the last 15 years? Pretend I work in Asda? What would I do for a reference seeing as my only referees are my PhD supervisor and current line manager who is a university professor.
And these are not excuses. These are real life actual barriers. In my case, I am in the middle of a career change (due to the fact that there's simply no funding for my branch of science anymore) and thankfully that change requires someone with my qualifications but that's not a route open to everyone.
Also bear in mind there is a serious shortage of jobs. Here's hoping that will soon change but it's dire at the moment.0 -

And of course, how many do you apply for that say..'If you have not heard from us by such and such a date please assume you have been unsuccessful in your application.' etc etc. We’ve had to remove your signature. Oh hell, I'm doomed
It doesn't bother me at all,,, until I walk into a place for an interview and i'm probably at least 20 years older than everyone else there.0 -

As long as the underlying reason not acknowledged the results will stay the same, as the system blamers keep evidencing whilst others around them succeed.
sensibleadvice you are a pure 100% idoit and talk like an MP out of your backside, you probably have no idea what these lame courses consist of, or how useless they truly are, I think you are on here as a wind up, live in a perfect world bubble or your sniffing glue!!
it seems that everyone on here has the same experience and opinion about these noddy courses and what a waste of money and resources they are to the tax payer, the only way to lower the number of unemployed people is to create jobs, not courses that lead to no jobs,
This country will soon be divided into the have's and have nots, slave labour will only create more crime because lets be honest even if someone gets caught committing a crime all that will happen to them is community work i.e working for benefits!!0 -
If any of you lot... really cant stand this..... why don't you just claim housing Benefit and NOT JSA? that way you avoid all the b0ll0cks of the WP

• Halifax Back up A/C
• Lloyds (Spending) A/C
• RBS Back up A/C
• Barclays Old A/C
• Nationwide Old A/C0 -

Some of us don't get housing and no sure how you live on just housing benefit if that's paying your rent
It's possible... JSA needs to be scrapped or give us a new age limit
