I appreciate it doesn't but where does the decision marker work from? If they work from the same office as the advisor who is handing out the referral, then the case is stacked against the job seekers as there is no 'independent' person looking at it. The decision marker will be following the same local rule as the advisors, in this case 'you must use the UJM to record your search'

They work from completely separate offices and are not based in jcp to make them independant.

They call it daily signing but effectively you only sign the day that your national insurance number denotes.

Travel fees will be payable, It's one of the 1st things we asked when we got told that this was what was planned. But again it may vary slightly office to office on how they are going to enforce it.
So it will be weekly signing.

Classic that DWP can call effective weekly signing, daily signing.

yes cheers it could be useful one day. i dont expect to be doing one anytime soon though as i already do voluntary work.

Hi I've checked this for you today and guidance states the following:

Participation is entirely voluntary for all participants. Sanctions may be applied where a participant has lost their place for reasons of gross misconduct ( sanctions do not apply to 16/17 year olds).

I regularly see customers cars worth in excess of 40k being parked around the corner then coming in to sign on.

You were doing okay until you came out with this rubbish.

Well said, I personally am grateful to CSMW she doesn't need to spend her spare time on here telling us how the system works (something that I would doubt a local adviser would be happy to do). Once you know a bit more how things do work then you can start to understand it, the part I find most frustrating about the JC is you are just told stuff no explanation as to why. I thank CSMW for enlightening me how the 'not applying for enough jobs' rule works.

I've not read much of the posts, but regarding the arguments i've read over the last few pages, I agree with this.

There is no need for the animosity just because of where she works. Unfortunately people will always have this frame of mind to anyone at the JCP, regardless of whether they are being helpful or not.

She is doing a job, and as much as she may agree or disagree with procedures or rules, people talk like she has the power to change something because you don't like it, like she is the punching bag for the entire JCP organisation. It's easy to say someone is a drone who just does everything without question, sometimes you have no option unless you want to be out of work too.

Give her a break, she's helping you with any questions you may have in her own time.

Ok will do are you on the WP or PWPS... Have they advised you about the daily signing they are looking at doing?
on pwps. nothing has been mentioned to me about daily signing but i have seen people here mention how they have already had to do it. havent heard from my adviser for over 2 months now, which is a good thing. another person with the same adviser as me hasnt heard from them since july.

Stop picking an argument & trying to get sympathy.

More like your nonsense of you regularly seeing people driving £40k cars & signing on, what a load of old claptrap ! Who in their right minds would put themselves through it if they were in that position.

And what, are they still thinking of enforcing daily signing, how stupid is that !

This is the sort of clueless incompetent organisation you work for, persecuting the unemployed driven by Tory ideology & clueless Iain Duncan Smith.
this is one problem the poster has, they believe what they are told to believe by their bosses and the government. for example they think sanctions are a good thing. to be fair it seems to be widespread among jc staff.
