Royal Scot is a strange one, parts of it are refurbished and spangly, yet some rooms are very shabby. It just comes down to pot luck where you're allocated. The bar area and breakfast bit is standard for a Travelodge.
As for the area being dangerous, I didn't feel at all intimidated there at all. It's a 5 min walk from the Station up Farringdon Road, it's well lit - no shady alleyways or areas where you'd have reason to feel threatened. I've stayed there with my 2 under 5s, and I'd stay there again.
Ok, Covent Garden is the better one to get if it's available, but I'd always take Royal Scot for £15 if that's all there was. It's a bargain at that.::Quidco.com - £1100 in 11 months. Kerr-ching! ::0 -
Sorry, I meant York on a Saturday night. I have very occasionally seen mid-week ones but they do go fast. Liverpool to London return on Nat Exp for £2? Absolute bargain. We had a week in Canterbury last Easter for £75 at a Travelodge - £10 return day trip to France with the car through The Sun offer. Probably couldn't have stayed in a caravan any cheaper.
For those who don't want to breakfast at the Little Thief, try Tesco or Sainsbury's brioche rolls - about £1.50 for six. Keep the leftover ones as snacks for the car - don't go off as quickly as bread.0 -
Thanks for the info, feeling better and looking forward to my trip now.
I have a Smoking Double room plus booked, (Double plus single I think).
Knowing my luck, it will be the only room left to renovate:)0 -
Could I ask all you helpful people if anyone has any experience of the Bournemouth Travelodge please?
I have booked three nights there in school hols and just wanted to ask, as there is only limited parking, if anyone can tell me if other parking is readily available?
Thanks in advance!0 -

Yes, the parking is limited there. It directly underneath the Travelodge and is on a first come, first served basis. There is no charge to use it. There are lots of residential roads nearby so I dont think it would be a problem parking elsewhere if you missed out.
I stayed there in April. I think there was a rugby conference on or something, because the reception was full of gorgeous young men.
Room was nice, but try to get a room not overlooking the main road at the front as we were. Its a very busy road and lots of traffic noise, youll know which one I mean!.0
