After an hour of constant crashes, finally managed to get a couple of days in York for me and my wife. Haven't decided if we are going to take the kids yet! Based on their attitude today its a big no-no!

Netimka - Farringdon lodge is in a reasonable area, but it`s close to Kings Cross. I`m going there for 3 days with my daughters, aged 18 & 16, and they are quite happy wandering around alone. Turn left as you leave the lodge and there are some lovely restaurants and you can get the bus into the West End. Order an oyster card each before you go and thats the cheapest way to get around. See TFL website. The lodge is the furthest from Kings X, but is quieter than the other two. If you want to use the tube system, then go right from the lodge to kings x tube.

Thank you for your advices... glad to hear the neighbourhood is ok. My first choice was Covent Garden, but I was too late ..
We have oyster cards which I ordered a while ago where there were on offer for free ;-) also get virgin train for £62 return from Preston…so very happy overall…

Ps. how often do they have this special sale? Maybe next time I can book York or Glasgow/Edinburgh if I will be quick…
