Am I entitled to a refund for a guides trip?

I offered to give the place to another guide who I know wasn't attending and was told I couldn't do this. Would rather give the place away than it just go to waste.
Will now wait and see what the guide leader can sort out!
Can't see why they wouldn't do that, seems fair to me.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
What I think was meant by insurance is that they have insurance for accidents etc whilst on the trip but they don't have insurance for the OP' situtation ....and in fairness why would they?2014 Target;

I agree. They'll be covered by their own liability insurance for the trip, but won't have cover for cancellations.
I also see no reason why they couldn't transfer the place to someone else though.0 -
Any chance of a partial refund then, OP?Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

I don't see why they will not transfer the place.
Would OP be entitled to a refund based on a refusal by the Guides to mitigate losses and allow OP to recoup some money?0 -

Beacuse they've boooked a holiday on behalf of OP. Would you book a holiday without taking out insurance that meant you weren't covered if you couldn't travel due to injury?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
In these sorts of cases it is more usual to try to fill the place. The only time I ever knew this not to happen was if a trip involved a flight so names couldn't be changed or if the parent was difficult. Did you ask what could be done or could it have seemed you were demanding a refund ?
Are you dealing with this at local level or have you gone to head office ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

If its a Uk holiday you'd be amazed how many people don't take out cancellation insurance.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

If they can't fill the place = no refund.
If they fill the space = refund (less perhaps a small admin charge but I doubt that)
If they fill the space at reduced rate = refund the difference
If they refuse to fill the place then I think you have an argument, especially with a couple of weeks to go.0
