are yu sure they werent sugar free sweets for diabetics as these are known to cause this problem in non diabetics

They are not designated as 'for diabetics', but the pack does state they may cause a laxative effect.

Agree with Gwylim above, many sugar free sweets, cause a tight stomach, with very bad wind and a laxative effect as well and it is normally mentioned on the pack.

I remember eating a whole pack of sugar free polos once not having read the warning. My stomach was in knots for a few hours.

I still buy sugar free sweets sometimes, but wouldn't eat more than 4 or 5 over a day.

I remember using sugar free polos to try and stop smoking one time. Needless to say I started again rather quickly:rotfl:

Started eating them at 7 o'clock when the picture started and at about 8:30 I thought I had wind and needed to fart.

    Obnoxious smelling water.

So stuff your face with sweets for 90 minutes and then touch cloth.

Wasn't your night was it? :D

Your right OP, writing to Aldi won't achieve anything apart from them perhaps telling you to read the box first....

Instead of eating sweets, why not take fruit? Losing the lard takes a lot of commitment, I've been there myself. Fruit was a saviour :)

I probably wouldn't bother contacting aldi, the warnings on the packet are clear. Saying that, someone saying 'I shat myself in the cinema' may brighten up the worker's day!
