Because I've bought every time I relocated, I've always seen quite a lot of houses to begin with (say 8 -10) just to get my eye in - as google maps can only tell you so much, and when I started house buying google maps didn't exist anyway. Once I've started looking seriously, eg with a very clear idea of where I want to live, its probably taken me another 5-6 viewings to get what I want. What has been weird, looking back, is that on 3 out of 4 occasions, including the house I have just moved to, I have seen a house that ticked all my boxes, liked it but not loved it, persuaded myself to go back for a second look and - on the same day - seen another house which I just walked through the doors and went "yes - that's the one I want. Strangely enough, the one that didn't conform to that pattern, which I bought because it was the best I could find for the money I had in a London suburb, is the only one I've had difficulty selling. Basically, go with your instinct and if you've found one you love, you have just got lucky early on.0

We are moving to Bristol from Leicester for new jobs (starting beginning of august) so we had a deadline and the distance preventing us from spending too long looking. I booked 30 viewings over 2 days (military operation!) and we put offers on the second and last one we viewed....and in the end got the second one at the cheaper price of the last! It took seeing all the other ones in our price range to realise the benefits of the second one we saw!0

30-40 but ended up buying the one from the 3rd viewing.0

i offered on the first one i saw - ticked all the boxes, it fell thru as the seller wanted to wait 6 months before moving
then i saw another 2 and offered on the last one which i got0 -
We saw 20ish but really liked the first one. Had to see all the others to make sure we knew we really liked the first one though.0

I think it doesn't matter how many you view, as long as it's more than 1 or 2. I certainly wouldn't recommend buying the first house you look at, at-least not until you have compared it to some others.
There is no upper limit on how many you can see, other than the amount of time you have and the amount of suitable properties on the market. I would suggest though that if you are having to look at 15-20+ before you find one to make an offer on then perhaps you are not looking carefully enough at the adverts in the first place, unless you really enjoy looking at properties, then you are free to waste as much estate agent time for your own enjoyment0 -
Theres no one number to this. I would suggest you at least view the place before buying. And view at different times of day/weather if possible.....
we viewed here as first place to look at, viewed 3 times, said we could move quick if got first offer accepted and so it did, so was no reason to look elsewhere. Current yield on this place be 9% so quite happy with it even once i move out of it should be good enough to keep.:eek:Living frugally at 24

The number of viewings isn't the most important thing imo. The important thing is doing the research and knowing the local market.0

The only trouble with this is that the adverts can be very poor, we almost discounted our current house as it looked awful in the photos. Turned out to be a bargain.0
