Samsung or IPad Tablet

Forget what people rave about. People rave about some types of drugs, but you wouldn't take their choice into account (i hope!)
Ipad has this shiny awesome badge because of what the ipad 1 did/iphone did. It was extraordinary, out of what people knew, and it is seen as a status symbol. It has very good quality regarding it's build, so it's not a chocolate fireguard, but you pay more money not for the quality any more, but for the name basically. As other non-apple tablets are now upto ipad standards, and sometimes beyond them in some aspects too. aka it's not necessarily the best tablet anymore, but it's a good tablet in it's class of equal tablets.
(N.B. this is measuring quality up to other quality tablets, samsung, google etc, not cheapy low end far east imports)
So.
If the samsung does what you want, and need and you prefer that one, buy it.
~Otherwise you will still be hum'ing and hah'ing for lots of months time.
The only reason I would delay a decision right now would be because of the new ipad coming out in next few months as that will be the brand new apple ipad technology, and no one can say if that will be better than the samsung, or any other tablet.
BUT
Then maybe 6 months after the ipad 5 is out, perhaps samsung is bringing a new one out too... You'd be waiting for ever. I certainly wouldn't wait a year, but I would wait a few months to compare to the new ipad.0 -
Much appreciated Lifesaver, and very much what I was also thinking but needed somebody to say it to me. I had also wondered about waiting another two or three months for the new ipad. So well done. Think I may as well sell my tablet though whilst I can still get some money for it. Thanks again0

If you just waited for the new one to be released then you'd never buy anything for fear of it being out of date, since new releases happen all the time.
I agree that you should just go with what you like best. I'm waiting to buy our first tablet - getting a new nexus 7. Prefer the size because I found full size ipad a useless size, too big to be portable or use in one hand like my iphone but still too small to actually be as useful as a laptop. So in my mind it sits in an unwieldy and useless but expensive big toy category.
7 inch ones are bigger and nicer to use than phone but still easy to use and portable. So fits into better niche. I wouldn't get one if just for me as I'm still quite happy just using my iphone. But OH has a really slow, small and low res screen smartphone and needs something nicer to read and browse from (hopefully ill still get to play with it though)
Going for that over ipad mini as I find it a nicer shape for holding and it's much better value with a high res 'retina' style display. That's despite me having iphone and so already owning many apple apps. But fact is all the ones I use most and free anyway. Paid for very few, so even adding those onto cost of the android tablet it's still much cheaper than getting an ipad.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,0000 -
The thing is, with electronics now it's outdated before you even buy it!
But that doesn't necessarily mean a purchase now is a bad decision. Unless you're the kind of person who simply must have the latest and greatest then frankly too much money and the sense is lacking.
The tablet you buy today from the premium market, apple, samsung, google, etc. higher ended, priced wise, will last several years and can be a good buy assuming you use it till end of life, or end of useful life regarding apps, and what you want to do with it but also what the new ones in a couple of years do.
The reason you hear so many people saying I still have an ipad 1 or 2 is because the android tablets weren't especially around in that time, or at a comparable price. The ipads were the priced, and technological sound at the time the early ones came out.
So in a year or so you will also hear about the early samsungs still working, or the google ones.0
