We charge £8 per hour, Tho we work as a pair, so 3 hours work, means we are both physically at a clean for 1.5 hours etc, that way we can get more cleans in per week. We are very thorough, our clients provide their own cleaning products, but we bring our Henry! We did work for a company, but decided to go it alone, and one of our clients was going to leave the other company, when we left because she liked us so much, and didnt want anyone else cleaning for her, so now shes our client.
It does depend what you are willing to do, some people can be damn right OTT, wanting you to do everything and more in the time they are paying for, which is not on!
It is, for me a bit frustrating when theres lots of papers/clothes etc all over the show, cos i feel like i cant do my job properly, but then we cant clear mess before we clean, as we`d be a jobs for hours on end! Most clients just love the fact that they havent got to worry about the bathroom, kitchen, floors, windows etc, and all our clients are lovely, tho in the past, weve had nightmare-ish ppl who would not be happy no matter what you did!
The only drawback of working for yourselves is, if you need time off, obviously they dont get a clean.

I get £10 per hour. I love to do the nitty gritty cleaning jobs, like skirting boards, scummy showers - you should see my cleaning cloths they are filthy. What I hate doing is huge houses, just dusting and hoovering when you can see that it is the paintwork and general grime that really needs cleaning. Anyone can push a hoover around and do the dusting. I also love love doing windows.

That is what the customer wants though, you have to do it. Most of the houses I clean are absolute chaos and I am generally cleaning around piles of clothes, books, papers etc. They could definitely do with the Flylady system, but I never suggest it as I don't want to do myself out of a job! Busy mums are more grateful for anything you do than pernickity ladies of lesiure. Yeah aim for £10 and provide a really thorough service.

some cleaners think cleaning a toilet involves shoving a bit of bleach down and half heartedly swishing a brush around. I get right round the back and do the sides etc.

PLEASE come and visit me at my house!! :D

Brilliant strategy. I'll clean your house, but only if it's not dirty.

LOL, honest tho, you would be suprised, some places need fumigating, i know that sounds snobby, but if a place is that Filthy, it needs doing by the professionals first.

    hi all

not strictly to do with the money side of cleaning but one of my very first jobs years ago was an a man in his 60s who lived by himself in a 3 bedfroomed house. anyway he was really desperate as he had had an invasion of flies and he couldnt keep his cleaners. me being a bit green felt sorry for him, the house was falling down around him, ive never seen so many cobwebs in my life, anyway went in one day and opened all the windows when he was out as instructed to let the flies out. went into the front room that he told me not to go into and no word of a lie there were rats on the windowsill. they had apparently eaten through the floorboards and were living in the house. it was unbelieveable. the flies were from the rotting dead rats that he had managed to kill. decided to throw the job in after that and that is why now i do not do dirty houses LMAO xx

I used to pay my cleaning lady £7 ph (SE London/ Kent) but she left and went back to Croatia. I then paid an agency £12 ph but later hired the cleaning lady privately at £10 ph. I could get someone cheaper off gumtree or the local Work Wanted ads, but this lady is reliable and efficient so I pay it, especially since she's very flexible and doesn't insist on a set number of hours a week - just comes round when I ask her.

Oh, so you used the Agency to find you an honest, reliable cleaner, then dumped them?
