Hey all,
Ive done pretty awful this month, what with starting back at Uni and not wanting to take things with me (I know LAZY right) i lost count about a week before the end of the challenge of how much over i was...
So i shall be heading over to October challenge with a new budget, along with another budget of £30 for my coffee's this month. I figure thats 30 coffees which is more than enough.. I know its about want and need but they are really my only treat throughout the month.
Also - not sure if anyone knows any better deal but there is half price Bold Washing Tablets in Tescos (£5.50 i think they were, ive lost my receipt already) for 33 tablets. The label said 17p per tablet which compared to the rest at 34p i thought this was good. The orange ones also smell like Next Paradise perfume so ive just been sat sniffing my washing :rotfl:
Anyways - see you all in October with a new and more frugal mind!!

Yet another spend of £35.44 today at Sainsburys as fruit, veg & salad supplies were dire to say the least. I usually get all this kind of stuff from Aldi but as I needed some stuff specific to Sainsburys and I couldn't be bothered to do my usual split shop I just bit the bullet and went straight there. My GC finishes on Thursday next week and we should only need milk so it looks like we might actually come in under budget this month
I spent a rather enjoyable (is that the right word lol ?) afternoon doing my monthly meal plan for October as I'm hoping to try and cut right back next month as it's MOT time in November and a trip down to London to see my neurologist which is gonna cost a fair bit too. I've set my budget at £500 next month but I've earmarked only £280 if I can possibly do it as we have loads of stuff in the freezers and cupboards to use. I did a mini stock take today and sorted out the freezers ready for my next GC. Bring it on! XGrocery challenge June 2016

Hmmm, have been thinking ahead to next week as Mr Shortie is awayand MiL is kindly staying for the week to do the school run for me. Next week's menu plan (and thereforw this weekend's shop) will need rethinking.
She's a perfectly capable cook but I want to put as little extra 'stuff' on her as possible. We have a batch cooked lasagne in the freezer, and I'm batch cooking spaghetti for Saturday's dinner. I only need to worry about Tues-Fri evening as I'm off on Monday anyway..
Thoughts so far: lasagne, jacket spuds, spag bol, tortillas.
Actually... writing that down helped! Off to write shopping list now!April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Another £3 spent on bread, fruit and biscuits so now £1 over my £20 weekly spend.
Hopefully that's it now! Going to be very strict for October...I'm C, Mummy to DS 29/11/2010 and DD 02/11/2013

I have a Nick Nairn recipe somewhere for a caramelised red onion chutney/relish. It's delish but uses tons of onions - 1kg cooked down to a jar and a half of chutney! I'm sure it would work with white onions too. Nice in a Christmas basket maybe?
