I found the best way is when you are cutting leave the root on until the end. Cut in half through the root then lay each half flat, cut in sections towards the root and then across.
I am not making sense lol so found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=274osDXleDg
I do the above but miss out the cutting sideways through the onion (if it tried that I don't think I would have any fingers left ) so get slices rather than cubes0 -

Alternatively, cook up in some veggie stock, whizz and add cream/milk and maybe some thyme for a cream of onion soup.
Onion chutney does use a lot, or I think you can make up your own curry paste and freeze, think I saw this on the mortgage free in 3 blog but can't remember where.

That sounds nice and it would save me having to buy plonk at the mo, though i could do with it for a few other recipes. Shame i can't get to Ald* as theirs is cheap. I have no cream in either, but i'll definitely have a go at the weekend though. I can just taste it now.
Spends of £11.56 in Mr M and C*-*p. YS Quorn sandwich meat, which i picked up at full price and promptly put back. Bananas, apples, Mighty light crisps on offer, savers eggs ( managed to find number"1" stamp again which denotes surplus FR), LMc veggie burgers (one pack of which i will have to go back for later, as i managed to be dosey and leave it on the till ) and LMc sausages on promotion.
Definitely don't need anything else. Got plenty of milk and bread, and the fruit should last at least until Saturday. Really noticing how quick things are running out since DD1's return in July, and she doesn't really eat that much, just strange readjusting again!GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £123.74/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Great tip, I hate that dilemma standing by the eggs seeing the value ones how cheap they are but thinking can I? I must admit I have done on the odd occasion (then feel guilty) but normally talk myself out of it and get FR. Where do I look for the number '1'?0 -

I read on another thread that if you look at the stamp on the egg and it says 1UK it is FR. I checked the FR boxes and they did indeed 1UK. Some f the boxes of savers said 3UK denoting economy, but others had 1UK (not sure what 2 is). I felt bad doing it too, but there must be some truth in it. Apparently not all stores do this, but check anyway. I was told Mr M is best for it; and i am lucky that i have got one on the doorstep now.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £123.74/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month.
