  • Can I be put down for £450 from 29th Aug-27th Sept.

Not sure if i'm doing the right thing decreasing my target this month as my kids were all on school dinner, but due to the cost of them i'm going to try and do them packed lunches to save money. Plus they have been pestering me for YEARS lol. Eldest is at secondary school so the days she needs to buy lunch (last year was a friday) then i will take it from grocery budget too. Its also over 4 weeks till i get paid again.

Still.... I gotta get my spending down as Santa is coming soon! I'm also hoping to pick up odds and ends to stick in christmas box ;)

Well, August was just pants on the grocery spend front but hey, onwards and upwards.

I'm going for £100 for September - I move back to Wales on the 20th :j (and sneak off to Barcelona for a week on the 22nd :D)

My month started on Monday and so far, I've spent £7.18 in Sainsbobs on reduced items which will see me through the week when added to the bits that I have in Birmingham.
I'm going to have a Mr T's delivery mid-month to Wales that Mr Maity can unpack which will consist mostly of cans and frozen stuff to start rebuilding the stores for when winter and possibly financial crises may hit.

  • Afternoon all,

been lurking quietly in the back ground as I've been out of sync for a couple of weeks. august has been a total wash out, as I blew a load of overtime money on a huge shop instead of keeping it for a rainy day. C'est la vie!

anyway September is gonna be a tight month due to time away in august but its do able as my huge shop was stocks for September, plus a few treats.

Coxy- can I please be put down for £200

the meal plan is written, i'd say we have 70% of it already, fingers crossed my hubby doesn't work away and put the budget out of whack again (not that's its his fault if he does)

HUGE THANKS to all who keep the thread going each month, and HAPPY SEPTEMBER ALL

P.s Don't forget the Ald! £5 off £40 voucher in the mirror or record tomorrow

    My method exactly!

I use one of those student project notebooks (Pukka Pads A4) that has all the sections with little wallet type parts to keep recipes in. Very useful and very cheap with the back to school sales usually.

One section Meal Plans, another Food Inventories, another my Monthly Food Spends Ledger, etc.

They have thick paper so I rub out at the end of each month and rewrite in the next months. I'm so cheap! :p

I use one of those books too!:rotfl: It keeps all my money and planning in one place:)

NSD for me today, just popped on to update my signature with my total.

Changed the meal p.an bout and I am going to attempt the shepherds pie tonight and will make the apple crumble I keep meaning to do because I am home earlier than usual. We will have the sweet and sour tomorrow.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

Please can I try the challenge for the first time? I have checked our spend for the last two months and it is around £300 for two of us and one small dog - that includes toiletries and cleaning things. We have a full freezer and stock cupboard and we eat low carb usually. This month will run from 1 - 30 September and I am aiming for £250. I do meal plan, but only for 3 or 4 days at a time as we like to be flexible.

    Wish me luck :-)

Lots of windfall apples off our tree in the garden, and some that have been eaten a bit by the bugs. My question is does anyone have any good ( and super simple ) recipes for making jellys or any preserves that I can make from the goot bit's I've salvaged :D thanks guys, X

    Can I join in please?
My son goes to uni in September & I really need to cut back to be able to fund him.

I'm aiming for £40 per week.
I'm planning on using Aldi to buy their super 6 & basing meals around that.

    I'm starting from 2nd September.

Please don't forget they change tomorrow.

So it's the first day of Septembers grocery challenge tomorrow and I am determined to resist the temptation of Morrisons and Sainsburys. Might have to buy some toilet rolls and pepsi max for OH from home b's but I don't want to buy any food!

well I'm making use of my 80p notepad from wilki$ons to help me get started/organised.... (I do like the sound of the pukka pads but I've got a new filofax on order with plenty of different coloured paper in my stash at home so I'm thinking of making use of that.....)

My shopping list at the moment contains two lists - one for things I actually need and a second list for the items I'd like...... Let's see what makes the final cut :rotfl:

This will be my first GC. I set myself a budget every month but I never stick to it. Hopefully this month I will!

My budget for the month will be £340.

This will include all food, toiletries and cleaning products for 2 adults and 3 young children.
