I dont have 99% of memory usage, im just worried about the huge chunk of process it uses, ive got 3 FF tabs open and the process are at 63,844 and rising

How long has your computer been up and running?

I've had this system up and running continously for a week, I'm using Opera with 8 tabs open for that time, 4 on auto refresh every 30 seconds and it's using 33MB. I've just spent the last couple of hours surfing and in that time Opera hasn't gone above 40MB.

I can't honestly see why so many people use Firefox, after every Opera release there is a rush to 'update' firefox with various 'inovative features' all features that Opera has just released.
It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

As people have recommended Opera, I have downloaded and started to use it. Actually, I am pretty impressed, it opens quicker than Firefox and IE, and is quick in operation as well. I like Firefox but it does take a little while to open (and this is not because IE preloads some of itself at bootup, because Opera loads faster than them both) and seems to use a lot of memory after you use it for a while, I have had Firefox.Exe use 150MB of RAM.

I like the Wand facility too.

Found this article about Firefox too, obviously the author doesn't like Firefox:

I've always used IE, I'm using 7 ATM but would like to have a second option as ocassionaly I have trouble with some sites.

I used Opera many years ago but apart from having to put up with ads it was riddled with spyware so got rid of it. Is it still like that?

    The criteria I would like is;

    1) speed

2)the ability to delete unwanted cookies (retain some) when exiting

3)able to synchronize favourites with IE

    Someone suggested Avant

    Anyone......?

    Thanks

Opera is different from how it once was. It no longer has adverts or spyware (I didn't think it did originally anyway). It's the lightest and fastest out of the big three, IE, Firefox, and Opera. It's a very good, well built application. I still use Firefox but I am a big fan of how Opera has been built and works.

Do you know if there is a way to synchronise bookmarks/favourites with IE7? I'd like to have the option to use both but don't want to have to update both favourites folder manually.

I've used Opera now for over 3 years and wouldn't look elsewhere.

There are some problems with certain sites where it doesn't work as well as IE e.g. internet banking. In those instances, I switch to IE. Saying that, I use Opera about 99% of the time.
