    Isn't Opera a paid-for piece of software?

Once you have tried Opera you will not go back.

    No.

And it's the only browser of the three main ones (IE and FF being the other two) which passes the Acid2 test for web standards. Unfortunately this means it doesn't work as well on some websites because those website builders are lazy and have very poor coding.

Wrong, I tried it, I soon went back to Firefox.

    I'm surprised by that.
I have all three installed, but use Opera in the main. It just does more by default.

Just simple things, like pressing 'Z' or 'X' to go backwards or forwards through webpages previously opened, the built in Torrent client, the built in email client. Just too much to mention.

If there are compatibility problems, there is the option to make Opera appear to be Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox to websites, through 'Tools' and 'Quick Preferences' and 'Edit Site Preferences'.

Im using 1.5.0.12 and when I pess my hotkey for the web, it hangs for a about 10 seconds before firefox starts up, also I'm having trouble when I exit firefox and try to shut down my PC. I get a box that appears that tries to shut down this file.....I cant remember what it said now, but the most annoying this is when my pc hangs after I click to log off, I then press ctrl-alt-del look at processes and see that firefox is running at 99%. I click end process, that dont work and have to shut down from the shut down menu at the top.

Firefox did install the latest version yesterday and I tried this but had trouble connection to the web. I gave it permission to connect through my firewall, but it still could not connect unless I switched off my internet lock, then it worked fine. So I went back to the older version via system restore.

I have been using firefox for ages now, but this shut down thing bugs me, so I want to try something else apart from IE7

You're in a bad mood today. Not a good idea to illustrate it quite so plainly on the forum.

I use Firefox, I tried Opera, I wanted to like it but always returned to Firefox.

To view incompatible pages and I've not seen many I use IE lite, it installs to the customise toolbar folder, you then drag it to the toolbar.

    Move along, nothing to see.

I use FF mainly, IE to test pages in sometimes I've designed. Only problem with FF is after having it open for a while it gobbles up a huge amount of memory. I've only got 5 tabs open at moment and task manager is telling me it is hogging in excess of 300Mb!
