Which is the better web browser.

I use firefox and its good, i like it, ive tried opera and it was ok but i prefered firefox and ive tried ie 7 which is ok as its got the tabbed browsing like firefox, the opnly problem im not keen on is the resources which firefox uses, i even have a copy of firefox portable on my pendrive for college as its better than internet explorere(the older version), the college dont have firefox on the computer just internet explorer

Firefox is actually quite a memory hog. More so than IE in fact. Opera is the best choice if you want something light.

Very inaccurate.

Opera is the lighest and fastest, then IE and Firefox is usually actually the heaviest and slowest. This is largely due to it being multi-platform and not optimised for a specific platform like with IE and Opera.

Firefox's strength is in the ease of adding extensions and skins, and it's W3C compatibility.


I was an Opera user, but switched back to Firefox. I like how easy it is to manage profiles, add extensions and can use the same profile whether I'm in Windows or Linux.

Opera, IE7 and Firefox are all very good browsers though. IE7 is the least customizable, and Opera can be a pain to develop for, especially when using AJAX-like technology. Firefox can be a little heavier than the others, but it's barely noticeable.

Has anyone else had this shut down problem, with firefox taking 99% of system process, when I do ctrl-alt-del ?

Opera for me, IE no way, Flock is crap layout, Slimbrowser for Quidco, FF is to slow for me, BTYahoo browser for the kids ( more control ) & AOL browser for the bin


Opera for PDF just jams though

I dont have 99% of memory usage, im just worried about the huge chunk of process it uses, ive got 3 FF tabs open and the process are at 63,844 and rising
