HSBC will love you if you're fully employed, have been working throughout, and/or are a 'keyworker'.
Anything other than the above and they're dragging their feet and kicking applications around.
We're both employed full time but applying for second home mortgage at 80% LTV. So could also be a reason to kick our application about! How long have you been waiting?

After having read this thread for the past couple of months , I just thought I’d add a post For anyone applying with HSBC.
    LTV 90% , applied ourselves directly ,
DIP with HSBC on 14th June
    Full application 17th June
    uploaded documents 19th June
    Valuation booked 3rd July
Got mortgage offer through this morning - 6th July 😄

Congratulations! Still no update on ours :( getting really impatient!
On the plus side, apparently, Government introducing no stamp duty for under 500k for six months! Anyone else heard? Due to be announced on Wednesday according to the daily mirror.
That would save me 4 k . Now let’s wait to Wednesday and let’s hope it will from August or even July .

We've given up with HSBC and put the application on hold last week as the underwriter on our case told us to go back and speak to one of their advisers due to some form of error.

Hoping it's with immediate effect! It'll save us 18k (second home) which we can put towards works needed in the new house! Keeping everything crossed, just hope HSBC lends to us!  :#
  • 1st Timer here.......
I went with HSBC, through L&C.... (thought id made a big error after reading reviews on them)
App submitted to HSBC 22nd June,
    Valuation done 1st July
    Documents Issued 2nd July
    Very happy :-)
    But quite a simple FTB'er...... £45k Deposit & Mortgage of £167k.

I’m glad this has gone through quickly for you! Tbh I thought my case should be straightforward enough - FTB, 34k deposit and 136k Mortgage. Only I’m self-employed so that’s thrown a complication into it that seems to be taking forever to sort, possibly due to additional checks in general plus extra additional checks due to Covid.
  • I guess i had full employment through Coronavirus & banking with First Direct on my side..... the only info HSBC asked for was 1 payslip.....

Employment definitely is the kicker. My income hasn’t decreased or anything during coronavirus, it’s just because I’m self-employed and they have to manually underwrite self-employed cases anyway I think so are adding extra income during Covid checks into that.

Eeesh, how frustrating is this?! I’m so sorry to hear that. Are you going to try and get it sorted and continue with HSBC or try a new application elsewhere?
  • Halifax are killing me here.... argh!! It's all halted waiting on this.
Our sellers are lovely and have already done the contents lists and everything, it's all just waiting....
