In the waiting game, all done with Barclays through a broker as I had a wee bit of adverse that was all over 3yrs old, a CCJ £447, and a few late payments.

    Dip- 12/11
    Offer accepted - 14/11
    App submitted - 18/11
    Survey booked - 26/11

Well what a mess up with Barclays this has been, underwritten asked for copy of October’s pay statement on 28th, heard from broker today that the underwriter still hasn’t looked at file, spoke to Barclays offshore team and sent an email to the underwriter. Unsurprising that valuation now accepted but still waiting for offer due to an underwriter not checking his cases :(
    Hopefully we will hear tomorrow
  • Help to buy ATP received today, Awaiting application to be assessed by the underwriter it’s been at this stage since last week, not sure what is the hold up, MB insisted valuation should not be done until application has been fully assessed by the underwriter
  • Got our offer from Natwest today, 2 weeks exactly from full application to offer.
  • In the same boat been doing this crazy mortgage dance for the past couple of months now...Seems never ending!

    18/10 - AIP from Barclays
    21/10 - Full application
29/10 - Offer received in the post (WOW! that is fast I thought and was surprised there was no valuation, given that it isn't a new property)
8/11 - Informed by the mortgage broker that they accidentally approved my mortgage and actually require employers references and will process our application on priority once we provide the reference letter as it was their error. Also, there was a desktop valuation apparently.
21/11 - Finally submitted employer references.
In between circumstances changed, wife moved jobs to a slightly lower salary.
27/11 - Received final offer in the post for the second time
2/12 - Raised change in circumstance with the bank and the issue is in queue to be reviewed by an underwriter. No priority this time as it was not their error.
so waiting ....hopefully will have a mortgage soon.

Letter was dated 03/12. Actually really happy with the timescales from Kent for them to process everything as they recieve abit of bad press for dragging their heels.

Now the countdown to exchange :D

Well we finally have good news, just heard this morning from our broker that our offer has been posted out, also just checked that it is also showing on the Barclays track it.
  • So happy to finally be able to join this thread!

We are FTBs with a 5% deposit and here is our timeline so far:

3/12 first offer made and rejected.
4/12 second offer made and rejected.
Decided to leave it a few days becuase we were effectively bidding against ourselves!
9/12 best and final offer made and accepted!!
Today (14/12) mortgage meeting with TSB and full application made. According to the mortgage advisor we have basically been accepted pending valuation and should have an offer within the next few days (I almost fainted when she said this!) we are in Scotland so they just need the transcript of the home report valuation from the surveyors and we will be good to go. There was a small issue with the gifted deposit form which has been rectified and I will scan and send on Monday and pop the original in the post.

Almost feeling like it's too good to be true that it's seemingly going to be so quick so trying not to get too excited but fingers crossed!
  • So further to my last post we were informed today (19/12) that our mortgage offer is in the post!

Things got a bit hairy yesterday when I phoned TSB out of curiosity to make sure they received the gifted deposit letter and was then informed that my fianc!'s payslips weren't showing on the system! I almost keeled over there and then but they were uploaded this morning by our adviser and even though she advised a 48-72hr turnaround I got a phone call only a couple of hours later to let me know it was good to go! So all in all 3 and a bit working days from application I am seriously impressed.

Absolutely thrilled that it's been so easy. We are carrying some debt and only have a 5% deposit so I have been worrying myself sick but now I am absolutely over the moon!
