Just had our offer text come through this morning! Great start to a Sunday!

31/07 Had offer accepted on house
1/08 Dropped all documents off for mortgage application through our MA and signed all the documents etc.
2/08 mortgage application recieved by nationwide.
3/08 valuation instructed for Friday 9/8
9/08 valuation carried out
11/08 Text to say mortgage offer approved! and in the post !
On to waiting to exchange !

Hi everyone,
Myself and my partner are FTB’s and are applying for a Halifax mortgage with an 81% LTV.
Our timeline stands:
08/07 MB meeting and MIP’s
24/07 viewed house
26/07 offer accepted and solicitor appointed
27/07 new MIP and mortgage certificate
27/07 ID checks with estate agents
29/07 MB meeting to choose mortgage
30/07 sent paperwork to MB
01/08 Nationwide declined- applied for Halifax and paid valuation fee
02/08 phonecall to say surveyor didn’t turn up
We have now got the valuation booked in again for the 13/08 but they’ve told us we won’t have our offer until the 21/08!! It feels like we’ve had knock back after knock back and I’m losing hope! 😖
So glad I’ve got all your forums and success stories to keep me going!
Any advice would be kindly appreciated ♥️0 -

Sorry to hear its not been so straight forward. I have heard that August isn't a great time for surveyors and mortgages progressing due to annual leave etc. So it's prob just due to that.
Did Nationwide say why they declined?0 -
Sorry I should have said that originally!!
Due to my partners credit! He’s not got a great score due to his ex’s debts! So our mortgage broker advised us to go with halifax due to them having already done the credit and affordability checks for our AIP.0 -

His score paid no part in the decision.0 -

We were told it was declined due to ‘credit score’ and my score is really good. We knew we were going in with a difficult situation as my partners credit score wasn’t excellent.
They would be referring to their internal scoring system - not the made up CRA scores.0 -
Ah I see. Although I’m not quite sure what else they could have declined us for at such an early stage and their reason specifically was “credit score!”. My broker did say that Nationwide have a tendency to use computers at the early stages and no human actually sees it for themselves- not sure how true this is! All I know is that their credit search showed up on our credit reports the day after.
The valuation is meant to be taking place tomorrow. Let’s hope this one turns up and we get some sort of answer soon.0 -
**UPDATE**
19 Jul 2019- Reserved plot with agreement to complete 18 Aug 2019
31 Jul 2019- AIP from Halifax. Broker advised new rates from NatWest expected soon so recommended to hold off to see what they are
06 Aug 2019- AIP from NatWest (better rates)
06 Aug 2019- Full application to NatWest
10 Aug 2019- HTB authority to proceed granted
12 Aug 2019- Valuation booked for 15 Aug 2019
Does anyone know roughly how long it takes between the valuation and decision/offer from NatWest? Other than the valuation booking I have heard nothing from them, should I expect requests or is the valuation done after all checks are complete? I had a look online and it had valuation as step 3 but then said "final checks" so I'm now confused!0
