We got good news yesterday!
My husband and I haven't had anywhere near as much waiting as everyone else but we got accepted yesterday and it's been such a relief. Here's our timeline.
24th Oct - Emailed about launch of a new Barratt development (which we were told wasn't launching until next year...)
3rd November - Met with Barratt and reserved a plot
13 November - Met with broker - agreed pursue a mortgage with Nationwide. Application submitted same day, valuation booked for 26th.
26 November - Valuation accepted and mortgage offered immediately.
I'm still in a bit of shock really. I have quite hefty credit cards (but had an excellent score), live in my overdraft and with our last three months' statements having big wedding spending, we were expecting a lot of queries - but nothing. Crossing fingers for everyone still waiting - it's such a stressful time and I can sympathise!xx0 -
As I have been watching this thread for a long time I wanted to give my contribution.
DIP put in end of Oct with Halifax via Broker. I am a contractor
19/11 Offer put in & accepted after small negotiation on the same day last week.
22/11 Full application submitted to Halifax. Valuation booked for 26/11
26/11 Call from broker that valuation fine & verbal offer of mortgage. Just waiting for paper work in the post.
Sooo grateful at the speed & ease. I had a baby earlier on in the year but broker reassured me this would not be a problem once I had been working a few months. Nice to know that sacrifices have paid off.
Good luck to every one else waiting, PMA!!0 -
Hi,
Oct 8th - Reserved New Build Plot.
Oct 12 - Full application Submitted (text received).
Oct 17 - Builders in touch to say valuation report booked for October 18th.
Oct 18th - Valuation carried out.
Oct 19th - Text from Nationwide to say they have received the valuation.
And we have heard nothing else so far, we will have been waiting 5 weeks on Friday.
Has anyone had to wait this long or is this really unusual?
FINALLY received mortgage offer - just under 7 weeks after application! can relax a bit now!!:T:T:T
good luck to everyone still waiting to hear! xxx0 -

I can finally join this thread :j
I'm a first time buyer currently living with my parents. My husband is a full time student so I'm applying in my sole name.
The property I'm trying to buy was previously rented out but the tenants left a couple of months ago and the owner can't be bothered with renting it out anymore so is selling and would like to complete before Christmas. This seems ambitious to me but my MA says it's doable.
3/11 - Viewed house
4/11 - Made offer, £5k below asking price
5/11 - Offer provisionally accepted pending DIP
6/11 - DIP with Natwest
8/11 - Offer formally accepted
9/11 - Instructed solicitors
13/11 - Appointment with MA
13/11 - New DIP with Halifax as MA found new deal
13/11 - Full application with Halifax
15/11 - Letter from surveyors including form to complete, sign and send back
16/11 9AM - Post form back to surveyor
16/11 6PM - Email from EA to say valuation/survey booked for 27/11 (not sure how this happened)
27/11 - Email from MA saying mortgage offer is in the post :beer:No. 30 on Save 12k in 2018 £20,218.75/£20,000
No. 90 on Save 12k in 2017 £19,650.21/£15,0000 -

Edit
29 Nov - Back to underwriting at lower LTV0 -
We were accepted however our house wasn't and a structural inspection was requested by the lender. This was done and sent to the lender last Friday, we were told we'd have a response by yesterday but that has now been extended til Monday.
It is a structural movement issue so our broker said there's a good chance it will be declined, even though the report said it is minor.
This is painful.0 -
