    Hi,

Oct 8th - Reserved New Build Plot.
Oct 12 - Full application Submitted (text received).
Oct 17 - Builders in touch to say valuation report booked for October 18th.
Oct 18th - Valuation carried out.
Oct 19th - Text from Nationwide to say they have received the valuation.

And we have heard nothing else so far, we will have been waiting 5 weeks on Friday.

Has anyone had to wait this long or is this really unusual?

I'm also going with Nationwide - we haven't got our valuation booked until the 26th!!! I would chase them up maybe? Are you taking care of it yourselves or through a broker?x

After this length of time worth chasing.
  • Hello,

I can finally join this thread :j

I'm a first time buyer currently living with my parents. My husband is a full time student so I'm applying in my sole name.

The property I'm trying to buy was previously rented out but the tenants left a couple of months ago and the owner can't be bothered with renting it out anymore so is selling and would like to complete before Christmas. This seems ambitious to me but my MA says it's doable.

    3/11 - Viewed house
4/11 - Made offer, £5k below asking price
5/11 - Offer provisionally accepted pending DIP
    6/11 - DIP with Natwest
    8/11 - Offer formally accepted
    9/11 - Instructed solicitors
    13/11 - Appointment with MA
13/11 - New DIP with Halifax as MA found new deal
13/11 - Full application with Halifax
15/11 - Letter from surveyors including form to complete, sign and send back
16/11 9AM - Post form back to surveyor
16/11 6PM - Email from EA to say valuation/survey booked for 27/11 (not sure how this happened)

  • Just reserved our 4 bed house. AIP done, with hard credit check and documents up front. 🤞🏻 It passes underwriting!
  • I'm also going with Nationwide - we haven't got our valuation booked until the 26th!!! I would chase them up maybe? Are you taking care of it yourselves or through a broker?x

that’s a long wait! We are with a broker, we chased him on Friday & he said he had already been on to nationwide & then we got a text from them saying
‘ Hi, Nationwide here. Good news, we've reserved the mortgage product(s) you've asked for. We'll be in touch as your application progresses.‘
We’re not sure what it actually means & by the time we received the message our broker was finished for the weekend so hopefully get it clarified tomorrow! xx

    Mortgage Broker / NatWest

    Timeline-

    12/10/2018 DIP Agreed with NW
    15/10/2018 1st Viewing
    29/10/2018 2nd Viewing
02/11/2018 Offer made - counter offer made which we accepted.
10/11/2018 Full Application to NatWest with all docs provided.
    12/11/2018 Valuation Fees Taken
    14/11/2018 Valuation Carried out
    15/11/2018 Query on OH payslip
16/11/2018 Broker says more or less all information has been accepted (including valuation) awaiting response on payslip query but should hopefully have an offer at the start to middle of next week provided the payslip issue is sorted.

So fingers and toes crossed we’ll hear something positive although having seen some of the stories on here we have been quite lucky.
  • We're playing underwriter tennis with Santander. The timeline is moving, but we're finding the requirements to be unclear which is causing delay after delay as they deal with one document at a time.
From what I have read on this forum this is typical of Santander's underwriting process.

    30 Oct - Application submitted
31 Oct - Bounced back for documents
    12 Nov - Documents supplied
    13 Nov - Valuation instructed
15 Nov - Bounced back for documents
    16 Nov - Documents supplied

I think most of them do this! Same thing happening with Nationwide for us.. and each time they take a further 3-4 days to get back!

  • Hi all

Long time lurker first time poster here.

We’re applying with Halifax and paying our valuation fee up front. Has anyone else upgraded their valuation to a valuation and home buyers report? Unsure whether to get these both together through Halifax or if better to keep them separate.

Many thanks for your advice in advance

I've done this. It's saved me about £200. It hasn't actually taken place yet though so I can't really advise you for or against.

Is there a particular reason you're thinking it would be better to keep them separate?
