Just thought I'd share my timeline for those interested. Pretty straight forward for me. Used Nationwide and had absolutely no complaints although I'm in a very straight forward situation.

10/11/15 - Proof of deposit received and satisfactory.
11/11/15 - Valuation received and under review.
11/11/15 - Last bank statement received and satisfactory.
12/11/15 - Valuation reviewed and acceptable.

congrats westbeef - we got our offer too!
  • I seem to be waiting around a bit at the moment...

FTB going through a broker, and getting a mortgage through Nationwide

    DIP accepted on 27/10
Meeting with advisor and all paperwork given on 2/11
    Full Application on 3/11
    Valuation booked for 12/11

I was updated by the broker that the report would be with nationwide by the 16th and processed by the 18th.

Speaking to them today and they haven't even got the report back yet. They don't seem to do much until you ring them to find out if somethings been done.
How long is it usually between valuation and them receiving report/giving it the ok (or not)?

And then how long from then for the offer to come through.

Got my meeting to decide what I want to put in the house (new build), which they want paying for there and then, and needs to be done before the roof puts on - obviously I don't want to do this with the risk of the mortgage being declined for some reason. Theres no reason why it should and the broker is confident, but I'm sure theres always a chance.
If its got to valuation with Nationwide, does that generally mean that it should be ok if the valuation comes back ok?
Ive spoke with broker who hasn't really given me much more info and doesn't seem to push the application with nationwide. I leave it a week between emails or phone calls to try not to be to much of a nuisance but getting slightly impatient and not wanted to release quite a lot of cash for 'extras' without the guarantee of a mortgage offer!

I'm sure they've better things to do with there time than worry about something over which they've no control. Perhaps your broker got it wrong and the surveyor wasn't back in the office until this week.
  • Our valuation was done yesterday and the halifax have let our broker know this morning the full offer will be in today's post - totally delighted :)
  • We finally got our offer! :j

Apparently there had been a technical issue with our application which slowed it down after the valuation had been done.
  • Im slightly confused. I have logged onto our skipton account onine to check the progress of our application (mortgage advisor made some big mistakes in the application, including wrong house address!!)

It says that the case was underwritten on the 14/11 but above that on the process it says 'Date Minimum Submission Received - Pending'. Does anyone know what this means?

Application began on the 9th and we still havent had a valuation insutructed? Should i be worried about our advisor?
  • Bit the bullet and we have put our application in 😁 here's our adventure so far!

    AIP (Santander) - 10th July
Offer accepted - 11th Nov (took a while to find a house we love!)
New AIP (Santander) - 12th Nov (house value is 8k higher and saved a further 5% towards deposit so AIP generated with a now 15% deposit).
From then we worried about recent late payments on credit report so umm'd and ahh'd until....
19th Nov - met with mortgage broker again to go through everything
20th Nov - application received by Santander!

I have every imaginable bodily part possible crossed. Nervous FTB. Eeeekkk!
  • Hello all,

I'm a first time buyer, and have reserved a 4 bed 3 floor semi detached Persimmon new build. Persimmon seem to be a bit pushy, aiming for exchange of contracts within 35 days of Authority to Proceed from Help to Buy, leaving me really anxious that the property will fall through if the mortgage doesn't come through in time.
Property price £185,995, using Help to Buy Wales equity loan scheme (20% loan + my 5% deposit). Applied for 75% LTV mortgage with Nationwide, through a broker (working in the medical field leaves me with a string of temporary contracts, so I wanted a specialist medical financial adviser on my side).
Relatively simple case: FTB, mortgage multiplier x3.2, new build with Help to Buy, Experian score 992. Hoping everything will progress well.

    30/10 - Plot reserved
09/11 - Help to Buy application sent
10/11 - DIP approved, Full application submitted, Payslip requested and sent, Valuation fee taken, Text received acknowledging receipt of application
16/11 - Solicitor instructed, Text received informing valuation booked for 19/11
17/11 - Help to Buy Authority to Proceed received
19/11 - Valuation completed, Nationwide ask for scan of payslip because initial copy submitted using phone scanner app (you can barely tell, but it's their money at the end of the day)
20/11 - Text received informing valuation approved, formal scan of payslip sent

Now, the waiting game continues. Just hope that having to resubmit the payslip doesn't slow down the application too much. I am rather optimistically hoping for some news by the end of next week.
