    Is patience a virtue?????
    25th June offer accepted
    20th July valuation+survey carried out
    27th July valuation+survey back
29th July found out problem NATIONWIDE needed paperwork - Underpinning report.
    6th August emailed paperwork
    28th August proposed completion date.........

Still no final mortgage offer!! O.M.G! Literally pulling hair out. I can't believe a week before supposed completion I still have no idea if I can buy the darn house! After losing a house 12 months ago and this being the 40+ house we viewed and with living out of boxes in rented accom. for over 12 months I am losing it slightly! Have called nationwide (of whom I have been with for many years no problems with previous mortgage) three times this week pleading with them to mark this as urgent they have been effing useless. "Its a busy time. It's just about to be signed off. It will be Defo by end of Friday'' Friday!!! Aaaarrrgggh!!
  • long time lurker, first time poster! Been watching this for a while as we nervously awaited our mortgage decision

we are FTB and applied direct with Nationwide

22/6 - AIP from nationwide granted
29/6 - Full application done in branch
30/6 - valuation booked (we are in Scotland so was already a homebuyers report that just needed updated)
    31/6 - valuation done
31/6 - email requesting further info on the deposit
3/8 - posted info to nationwide
3/8 - phonecall requesting further payslips, taken in to the branch that day to be sent off
12/8 - phoned nationwide, documents we sent had been received but not clicked in(?)
14/8 - email requesting further info on deposit (same stuff we already sent!)
17/8 - phoned nationwide to find out what they needed
17/8 - another email to clarify what they actually needed, documents emailed to them
19/8 - formal offer text received

phew, was getting a bit nerve wracking but got there in the end :T good luck to everyone else!

How are you coping with that? Let's hope Friday brings you some good news.
  • We were lucky that the affordability was still there and the change would only add about £150 a month to repayments. We are porting over a mortgage so the higher interest rate is only on the new part of the mortgage. Figured take the hit for the two years of the fixed deal and then the house can be revalued after and we should get a far higher value following our improvements.

Oh the joys of it all!

So the vendor has come back and said they are not going to reduce the price (I think I would have done the same in their position), I've asked by MB if it's worth having another survey or going to another lender.

We have missed out on 3 houses already, so we don't really want to lose this one too. All very frustrating!

LauraH28 - Coping isn't in ones vocabulary at present. I am extremely stressed out! It's out of my control which is driving me craaazzzzy. My notice is up on my house tomorrow and I am not giving it in as I can't presume the house purchase will go through or get the mortgage offer.... we all know anything can happen until the keys are physically in ones hands. So I am having to carry on a rolling contract which means I would give my notice on the 20th September which will take me up to 20th Oct. If all goes through with the house I am buying I will be paying another months rent and not in the bleedin' house as I will be vacating at the beginning of Sept due to relocation and little one starting new school. Bet you wish you never asked now lol :s Stresssssssss! :)

Oh my no wonder lol. I'm lucky ours is only about 2 miles away! Would your current landlord not allow ur tenancy to end quicker I suppose it's just another expense.

I have just gotta suck it up. What will be will be. But as for Nationwide - well, just not impressed at all with them. They were quick enough to contact me regarding the buildings insurance whilst attempting to sell me other products! I am only borrowing 43% cheeky so and so's -
"Nationwide, on your side" ....Yeah righto!

Not so much on your side!! We've had no contact from them expect a couple of texts the rest has been through the broker

I've just txt my broker who txt back really quickly saying its a waiting game until valuation and he thinks because they have checked everything and got the couple of documents they needed that we will have a decision pretty quick. Just rang the selling agent to find out about val there was no one to speak and they will ring me back. Grrrr hope everyone is having some success

My advice is keep on chasing the est agt until you speak to someone and confirm they know about exact time of the valuation etc
Last thing you want is to be delayed anymore
