Anyone want to join me? Awaiting Mortgage decision...

Still waiting on my offer, EA confirmed this morning that underwriters were happy and was just a case of waiting on the offer officially...however now the sutveyor is still insisting on a retainer, but is unwilling (apparently) to divulge on what grounds.
2 questions;
1) is this normal behaviour? &
2) surely the whole point of a retainer is for me to carry out remedial works at which point the retained funds are released, how do i remediate if they wont tell me the issue?!
Confused and Bemused by the whole saga!0 -
