I'm applying with Nationwide via a broker:
7th July: DIP approved, full application submitted
9th July: Request for additional paperwork relating to my deposit
10th July: Sent off some of the additional paperwork (but still waiting for a paper statement coming by post)
14th July: Nationwide text to say valuation scheduled. Date is missing from where it should be, so I don't know when this actually is.

I hope the valuation being scheduled is a good sign, despite my outstanding paperwork. I guess I'll hear at some point from either Nationwide or my broker whether it was okay?

Despite chasing my MA yesterday and being told we wouldn't hear anything until next week, received a call from the EAs today saying that the survey has been booked for Wed :)

Updated MA (ironic!) who said that the underwriting process must therefore be done! Such a relief. I didn't even get asked for any extra docs, the original pack submitted must have been that good ;)

Fingers crossed on the valuation now (and the vendor finding somewhere to buy!).

Text from eSurv last Thursday 10th to say that the valuation is available for viewing online. It's valued up! :T Once again, I updated my MA (seriously... ). Hopefully that's the last thing and our mortgage offer will come through early this week...
  • Still waiting. Still completely on edge. One minute I feel positive, the next I'm convinced it'll be a no. It's only been a few days, and after reading pretty much EVERY page of this thread (I had ALOT of free time at work last week!!) I realise that time-frames are fairly meaningless - some people seem to have had an answer within 4 days, others have had to wait weeks.

The EA emailed me again this morning asking for a progress report - what did he expect to happen between Friday afternoon and this morning?! I understand he's eager to report back to the vendor with progress, but I don't know how many more times I can say to him "I'll let you know the second I hear anything from my broker."

Gah. The waiting is playing havoc with my anxiety!!

Congratulations to anyone that's had good news in the past week, fingers crossed for the rest of us..

    Hi Everyone (Update from previous)

    24/06/14 - Offer accepted

25/06/14 - 02/07/14 - Research in finding the correct mortgage for our situation. Finally decided on Halifax as they seem to be a bit more flexible. Halifax BDM has confirmed we'll be okay via L&C broker.

03/07/14 - Application with Halifax gone in today via L&C.
Broker assures me that it's further than DIP as they have accepted the application and will get back to us about the documents required. 85% LTV.

09/07/14 - Original documents received and uploaded to Halifax by London & Country

11/07/14 - Home buyers survey conducted and Valuation submitted to Halifax

14/07/14 - Received a text this morning from L&C which suggests that an offer is on its way in the post.

Now I need to get my !!!! in gear and get the conveyancer the documents they need to begin.

I have to say I can't thank Matt Grayson & Annabel Flint from L&C enough. They were brilliant, Matt knew exactly who to go to and the deal to get.

    Now the paperwork.....

I'll join this just to pass the time that Nawest are taking!

    23/06/14 - Put in Application

27/06/14 - They decide to look at it

01/07/14 - They want me to confirm my address in writing despite having photo ID with address on and utility bills etc

02/07/14 - Receive letter which i fill n my address and post straight back

08/07/14 - Request P60 Bank statements and an explanation of why my husbands salary shows an abbrieviation instead of the full company name on his bank statements (how about its too bloody long to fit on the page lol)

Sent all this info in straight away and heard absolutely nothing.

Every time we get told 3 working days what are they doing in these 3 working days!

    Frustrating!

GAAAH! My valuation happened Friday morning, and I've still heard nothing from Nationwide. How long does it normally take?
  • Same day to more than a week. Tough waiting but likely to be fairly quick.

I'm just so anxious. Keep hearing stories of properties being undervalued and it's worrying me. We got the house for £50k under its original asking price, but it still worries me.

The SLA for return of valuation is 72 hours, excl weekends.

It seems to be slower if a staff valuer does it too...

    14/06/2014 - AIP from Leeds
    16/06/2014 - Offer accepted
21/06/2014 - Mortgage advisor filled out some online forms, didn't take copies of any ID, told us we've done as much as we can for now but have no idea what the next step is or what we're waiting for!

    Update -

28/06/2014 - MA takes all our ID and gets full application sent to Leeds.
12/07/2014 - After waiting two weeks Leeds have now offered us 10% less than we need, we're completly gutted. MA said it's because their rate is so good that they don't want too many 5% mortagages. It means we're looking at an extra £100 a month in payments.
14/07/2014 - MA is supposed to be running a DIP through with Halifax or Santander today. A month since we put the offer in and it feels like we've got nowhere. Now for the waiting again. :(
