To be fair we was told 12 weeks was the average for a house purchase . I think we had a bit of a wait just due to some paperwork missing etc so got pushed through to the back ! .

All been smooth so far ! Touch wood

5/3 - Mortgage (With Abbey/Santander) AIP through IFA
6/3 - We provided IFA with requested information RE Mortgage
18/3 - Solicitors packs arrived requesting information RE Deposit and ID checks
20/3 - Mortgage comes back from Underwriters, all fine, Valuation (Provided by Abbey/Santander) booked for 31/3
31/3 - Valuation took place - All OK!
    31/3 - Application offered!
04/04 - Received paperwork for Mortgage Offer but also Solicitors wanted more info.
07/04 - Provided requested info to solicitors.
08/04 - Confirmed no further input required from ourselves for the time being (Hoping thats pretty much it!)

So we're in limbo atm :( Ideally we would like to exchange on pay day (25th) and then complete/move a week later (2nd May) Is this plausible? Afaik the searches should be done by now and the solicitors have been in touch with the vendors solicitor.

Feels so close but yet so far! Is there a set time frame between Exchange and Completion or can it be any time?

chriskellym86 We're with Santander also and have had no issues so far! *touch wood* Check your MATs to see the status if you haven't already :) I can't post links cause am a newb sorry!

Leeds is very slow! Chased today and it's moving slowly in the queue - expected that valuation will be instructed by the end of the week.

    Update:
1 January- Got a DIP (technically a "mortgage certificate") from Coventry building society

In between we found a new build home that we liked (unexpected and weren't looking for a new build), which eliminated Coventry as an option.

20 March - Sent PIF and reservation form into Help to Buy agent for the Equity Loan Scheme
21 March - Reserved plot and paid reservation fee
22 March - Received ATP letter from Help to Buy agent
25 March - Did a formal mortgage application with Leeds Building Society, which was successful (first computer bit, not to underwriter yet). Broker has payslips, etc.
28 March - Full documents formally sent in to Leeds (25th was the step with computer credit check apparently).
11 April 2014 - Leeds asked for my last three months of bank statements. They already had these but it had been so long since submission of documents that they were now missing the last month. Documents provided.
14 April 2014 - The builder asked what was going on and I blamed Leeds.

    Update:

28/3 - Submitted full mortgage application with HSBC
10/4 - Call from underwriter to say mortgage application approved subject to valuation.
12/4 - Received mortgage offer in post.
    22/4 - Valuation survey scheduled.

So pleased things are now moving.
