    Okay, quick update...

14/03/2014- AIP and full credit scoring came back fine! (I've moved a lot over the last few years so they needed to manually credit check me!)
    14/03/2014- Full application submitted.
15/03/2014- Need a gift deposit letter from parents.
    18/03/2014- Valuation booked!
    20/03/2014- Valuation day!!!!!! Fingers crossed
20/03/2014- Gift deposit letter received with MA, all ok!

Now just waiting for the valuation to come back and I think we're good to go! We are submitting our solicitor details on Saturday as a family member is doing this for us but has been away on holiday.

So 14 days since we viewed our dream home and we are well on our way to it!

Haven't posted here for a while but...

Valuation came back perfectly and our final mortgage offer came through on Friday! wohoooo! :j

Now everything is in the solicitors hands! Has anybody found they have had problems with the solicitors or been delayed? We are hoping to complete everything and move May 16th so 5 weeks ish away! Is this enough time? Any answers would be great!

    Good luck everyone!
  • I must have been so naive I didn't worry about my mortgage at all didn't cross my mind that's I wouldn't get one even though I was buying on my own and at the time was on much less salary than I am now. I guess ignorance is bliss. Saved myself sleepless nights.

After discussing completion dates with our solicitors, they advised getting searches back from our local council can take up to 20 working days. So it will be a 5-6 week process at the very minimum :(

I'm a newcomer to this thread. Please be gentle.

02/04 Had offer accepted for a purchase, £185,000. Currently renting.
04/04 Mortgage broker says lender needs proof of earnings from SA302 documents. Have requested these from HMRC (I'm self employed) and am keeping my fingers crossed they will reflect my last three tax returns!

HSBC are so hopeless. Our seller is threatening to pull out because it's been almost three weeks since the offer was accepted and we are yet to schedule the valuation. The delay is solely due to the bank.

I called the bank on Friday and (after waiting for almost 40 minutes to get through) spoke to a team leader who assured me that she would fast-track our application to underwriters and we'd have the valuation booked on Monday (yesterday). When this didn't happen I called them again and was assured (after another 40 minute wait) that it would be today. But we're still waiting! We have lost all credibility with our seller and probably soon to lose the house.

Ouch. That's really poor. I suppose you just need to keep at it, make sure that everyone involved is kept up to date and keep reminding the estate agent that you really are the on the case!
