UPDATE
12th Feb - offer accepted on house
25th Feb - Broker AIP with skipton (previous AIP wit different lender but they upped the interest rate)
2nd March - Broker submits full app with skipton
5th March - All documents sent from broker to skipton
13th March - Skipton ask for outstanding student loans balance via broker, provided info to them the same day.
17th March - call skipton directly for an update to say it will be another 4-5 working days before they can look at our documents
18th March - ask for valuation to be progressed whilst they look at our application
19th march - valuation can be completed on the 29th match
20th march - valuation completed
21st March - good news this morning hear back that we've been approved for the mortgage after our application :j
21st March - the afternoon brings some slight bad news. They've valued the house at 5k (2%) under what we've offered because of the condition of the non attached garage. We also need to arrange a full electrical and damp proof report.
28th March - Receive the damp and electrical report showing approx 2k worth of work needs to be carried out.
29th March - reports sent to mortgage company and given the usual answer of "it'll be 5 working days before we look at your documents". So yet more waiting0 -

Spoke to MA's assistant today who got my back up. Explained many people on here seemed to be getting a quicker turnaround. She then said that I must have this wrong.... After wasting 10 mins of my life and getting nowhere I rang Natwest direct.
Spoke to a lovely lady at Natwest who was very friendly and helpful. Apologised for the delay in me being on hold. She gave me my acc number so I can ring back direct if I need to in future. Told me that I should have a decision on my application on Tuesday and - if this is ok - they will sort the valuation. Also explained that they take the valuation fee once I have been approved so if I see this go out my account thats good news.
Will be stalking my internet banking from here on out!
Still extremely nervous - cross your fingers for me please!
Spoke to my MA late Friday who said that he had spoken directly to an underwriter and I should (fingers crossed) get a decision tomorrow. I feel sick with nerves! this is my dream house - I'll be devastated if I'm turned down0 -
I applied with Nat West Feb 28th
Finally it got underwritten on March 21st and Valuation booked for March 28th.
While looking through a pdf of the Nat West application my broker only put 90% LTV, when in fact my KFI stated 95% - Broker has tried to backtrack saying there was a glitch in Nat West computer system!
Any way after another week of messing about, they are having to re score the application at 95%, rang friday and it won't be looked at until close of play on April 3rd.
BTW the valuation, which I have paid for, has been put on hold!
I have given up worrying now - if it happens then great, but Im not expecting great things. If it does not go through I will be looking for another broker as so far Im not impressed (lack of communication, unreturned phone call, myself doing all the chasing, she lost some of my documents)0 -
I can now join this discussion!
24/2 AIP given for LLoyds Local Lend a Hand Scheme
10/3 offer made on house after 2 viewings, offer accepted same day!
19/3 went in to branch to do full application, application refered to underwriters due to notice of correction on partners credit file (to do with a linked address thats in dispute with EE)
21/3 MA phones to say underwriters have OK'd it, so can proceed with application. Valuation instructed.
Next step, need to open lloyds account as part of their terms and then need to arrange another appointment to go through the rest of the application (cant do this until week commencing 31st March as MA is out of office next week!)
29/3 Mortgage Advisor rang to say valuation was completed on 24/3 and came back fine and now everything needs to be checked and signed off but it's already been to underwriters so she said there was nothing to worry about and we will be getting our mortgage offer in the post within a few weeks (not sure why it could take this long when some people seem to be getting their offers out quickly)TTC since September 20150 -

Solicitors received a faxed offer from Santander on Friday
So full application to offer being produced was 9 calendar days. Not too shabby for Santander from what I've read elsewhere! Just waiting to receive our copy now to check for errors etc (fingers crossed!)DS - 08/15

Hi All!
Long time lurker, chronic worrier here! Looking for some info on what happens after the house Valuation process. Back story - Buying a house with no chain in either direction. No debt, excellent credit score but majority of deposit (about 60%) is coming from a family member:
5/3 - Mortgage (With Abbey/Santander) AIP through IFA
6/3 - We provided IFA with requested information RE Mortgage
18/3 - Solicitors packs arrived requesting information RE Deposit and ID checks
20/3 - Mortgage comes back from Underwriters, all fine, Valuation (Provided by Abbey/Santander) booked for 31/3
31/3 - Valuation to take place today.
I'm basically wondering how long I can expect before hearing about the results of the Valuation? Would we hear today or is it a case of a report or something having to be written first? Would the vendor be told before ourselves even though its our Mortgage company providing the valuation?
Sorry for all the questions - My husband tells me I should take an interest in stuff like this so I'm trying to understand! I am a terrible worrier and undergoing CBT for it so the whole thing isn't helping much lol
Thank you in advance!0 -
Hi Lilly,
We applied direct so our application process was slightly different. However, I'm sure if you apply through a broker then your broker can check whether the valuation has been received using the MATS system. E-Surv are generally quite quick at getting the valuation back, so depending on what time today your valuation was, it wouldn't be totally out of the question for Santander to have had it back today. As I'm not going through a broker I spoke to e-surv directly after I knew my valuation had taken place, and they said surveyors had up to 48 hours after valuation to write it up and submit to the lender, but they usually did it well within this timeframe. I rang back later in the day and they confirmed the valuation had been sent to Santander, so I called Santander who confirmed it had been valued for theprice we offered.
Give your broker a nudge and ask them to check the MATS system for an update. Unfortunately whilst having a broker is great for getting them to do the chasing up, it also means applicants are less likely to be able to call themselves as they'll be asked to go through their broker.
I have mild GAD, which hasn't been so mild in the last month so I totally know where you're coming from! The good news is that the valuation is likely to be your last hurdle before the offer, so from a mortgage perspective you're nearly thereDS - 08/15

Our offer and valuation was in the post and delivered within 4 days after the valuation took place .0 -
Hello!
Thank you very much for the responses Clare_A87 and mrlukeYou've both helped to put my mind at rest! In the interim, I figured out our MATS login and saw that the Valuation had been completed and our Mortgage has been offered! No details on the results of the Valuation though but I guess just knowing its been done and the Offer is in the post is good enough for now
Another hurdle over! Hope there are no more left to throw at us but I'm never one to assume nothing can go wrong...
Crossing any and all extremities I can lol.0
