Spoke too soon
Although I think everything is OK now, I called today to check our offer was on the way only to be told there was a query on our account, and the underwriters needed the branch to confirm that our purchase was HTBMG eligible. Bit surprised considering the mortgage we're applying for is exclusively for HTBMG, and when our full application was submitted it included a declaration signed by ourselves and the mortgage advisor to confirm eligibility. Why it would need confirming again is beyond me!
Thankfully the manager in the branch acted very swiftly and ensured a mortgage advisor confirmed this on the relevant system within half an hour of my call, but it now has to go back to the admin team to approve before the offer can be sent out. So basically a whole heap of beuracracy because the right hand doesn't know what the left one is doing. Not overly happy today!DS - 08/15

Just thought I would share my nightmare mortgage story with you guys. So my mortgage is with Barclays/Woolwich!
26th Jan - Offer put in
27th Jan - Offer accepted
7th Feb - mortgage application made
7th Feb - Details of pay slips requested
7th Feb - Solicitor informed of purchase
10th Feb - given OIP
17th Feb - Valuation instructed
18th Feb - query over dates on payslip matching with bank entries (Valuation put on hold)
19th Feb - Valuation booked again!
25th Feb - Valuation completed
27th Feb - Bank received valuation report
4th March - Bank now requires a damp survey - further cost of £200
4th March - Damp survey booked
11th March - damp survey completed
17th March - bank now says rainwater goods report is missing
18th March - rainwater report completed
20th March - bank received rainwater report - forwards to surveyor
Now the bank is waiting for the report back from the surveyor.
I am having sleepless nights over this mortgage, one problem gets solved and another rears its head!!
Meanwhile I am investing more time and money into this mortgage which they may decide to refuse right at the the last minute having watched me pay for all these damn surveys.
In addition the mortgage advisor at Barclays has told me several times during the process that they have everything and then they come back to me with more info and survey requests!!
UPDATE!
24/03/2014 - Received Text from barclays saying mortgage offer has been issued and sent by 1st class post.
25/03/2014 - nothing received
26/03/2014 - nothing received
I called barclays today and they gave me no explanation as to why it has not arrived. Checked address on file - all correct.
They only thing they could offer me was to put in request to re-send offer which takes 1-2 working days, which means I may not receive the offer until next week!!!
Should I be worried at all??0 -

28/2/14 completed on my old house (not living in)
8/3/14 looked around two houses - 1 we really liked
10/3/14 contacted broker and got OIP
12/3/14 looked around another house but didn't like it as much
15/3/14 second visit to look more critically, took friend who is civil engineer and checked it over structurally for us
17/3/14 offer made and rejected, 2nd offer accepted
18/3/14 contacted broker to inform and for full application to be made
18/3/14 ID & OIP taken to EA
19/3/14 offers ending at the woolich so computer system not working/funds not available
20/3/14 unable to find partners name
21/3/14 turns out they'd put mrs not ms?! not sure if it will be done today
24/3/14 full application in finally and told we've passed the credit check (I assume that's a good thing) and requesting proof of deposit and 3 months bank statements, email back to check if printed off ones are acceptable
24/3/14 ID, bank statements, contract & £300 etc sent back to solicitor
25/3/14 broker got back, yes printed ones are ok - will do tonight, not requested ID
Anyone have experience of how long to wait with woolich?
Broker mentioned 24 days but my partner wasn't sure if that was working days?
It took 9 working days with the Woolwich from full application to offer! That was about 4 weeks ago! Good luck0 -

I'm at the back of the queue again too because the underwriter wanted to see the second page of my payslip. This request puzzled me as I only get one page, until the broker clarified that the top of my payslip says 'Page 1 of 2' simply because when they print them they would print back to back unless they inserted a blank page to separate each payslip.
The broker tried to explain to Santander that they were requesting a page that was blank apart from 'Page 2 of 2' in the footer, but they wouldn't have it, so I'm waiting another few days to get back to underwriters for the sake of a blank page.:rotfl:
That was the point that I realised I'd just have to stop worrying so much and just jump the hoops they haven't asked for anything else or declined so I'm not sure my blank page is going to change the outcome so I'm :cool:0 -

Well, an unexpected turn of events!!! had a call off Nationwide an hour ago. They arent declining us after all just wont be offering the full amount of £151k they will only Loan £145400 a shortfall of
£5600 luckily we can stump up the extra cash so I wont need the IFA after all (but I would use one looking back with hindsight). Will be getting the offer through mid-week next week.
on the plus side it brings us down to 78% LTV only downer will be having to save up again to be able to afford some of the nice bits and pieces for the new house. Thanks everyone for the great support, I think I would have gone mad without your advice0 -

17th March - Application submitted
20th March - Phone call from Natwest Mortgage Centre; application ok but has been pulled for audit
25th March - Valuation Instructed booked for thusday
Has anyone asked for a list of their lenders approved conveyancing panel or did you choose a solicitor and hope they were on it?
Did you go direct to Natwest? Mine went through a broker on Monday the 10th and still no answer as to whether they are going to give me a mortgage - let alone sort the survey! I just need to know now!!!! I'm so nervous0
