It seems its just our underwriter who is being a pain! After a call with the main call centre yesterday, the valuation was miraculously found and attached to the case for the underwriter to issue to offer.
Fast forward to this morning and the underwriter has emailed saying they cannot find the valuation attached and it will mean the case goes back to the bottom of her pile and will be reviewed again in 8 days.
Mortgage advisor has sent one not too happy email to the underwriters boss as it is their error and we have already had a week added on due to them 'losing' the valuation before this extra week they're stating.0 -

Person buying from us is using TSB just wondering if she’ll have similar issues. She’s not self employed and has low LTV.TSB application here too, straightforward case, 2 x DWP workers not furloughed and with 15% deposit. Lender required a damp and timber report which has come back clear today and they have now agreed the full valuation. Broker has advised we’re just awaiting the mortgage offer, there’s no indication that it needs to go to an underwriter so will keep you updated.11th June AIP and full mortgage application through broker submitted. All usual documents needed supplied to MB so nothing further requested. Hard searches done.
12th June valuation fee taken
15th June advised mortgage approved STV22nd June valuation done
29th June valuation outcome chased, woodworm found damp and timber report requested and house valued at nil until results were provided
7th July damp and timber report found no immediate issues, resubmitted to TSB
13th July, updated valuation outcome chased, now valued at full amount
20th July, mortgage approval chased again
22nd July, chased again, MB advised they were only responding by email and it takes an hour to get through. Around an hour after that a further hard and soft search was recorded, then my mortgage offer came through later in the afternoon!!What I’ve learnt is to chase! Nothing seems to progress until you do. I’ve chased my poor MB so much I’ve sent him a wine gift pack along with his fee 😇. Even though it’s great having a broker (especially for FTB) not having access to a portal where you can check and chase your application is a real negative for an obsessive like me. But it appears standard applications are still pretty quick, if the D&T report wasn’t needed we would have an offer within a fortnight.
Good luck all x1 -

AIP - 20th June
Full application submitted - 22nd June (Hard searches noted on credit file 22nd June)
Notified that valuation had been done & report received - 3rd July (turns out valuation was done earlier in the week)
Sent to underwriters - 1st July
We were told that there were IT & staffing issues and that our application was escalated on 13th July, have chased every few days since then, seller had some issues as house is part of estate and now looks to have this cleared up and wants to push for completion date in 4 weeks but TSB are taking forever and now the pressure is going to be on us.0 -
Just to add some more on the Barclays situation.
- Original Application on the 14th July
- 16th July, asked for 3 months business statements for my wife (self employed). Supplied on 17th July. Informed they would get back in a day. Then informed on 22nd July that they are now working to a 4 day turnaround with supplementary requested info
- 23rd July, asked for memo of sale for our house...

It's frustrating isn't it? Just heard HSBC are now at 7 working days turnawound (excl weekends) on docs so they won't even review my payslips until Monday. Then it's 11 working days to get to underwriting. Could be a long wait...0
