Housing Association residents disrupting quiet estate

I'm of foreign descent and I'm curious as to what the many differences are between my culture and UK culture.I assume that most of the people causing the problems are of foreign descent? That wouldn't surprise me. It's fashionable to bash poor white British people (the so-called Chavs) but if you dare criticise anyone from overseas then you get tarred with the racism brush. From personal experience many of the social problems are caused by people with very different cultures to our own.0 -
Well, I bought my flat 3 years ago, and a similar one sold three months ago for 30% more (well, actually north facing rather than south facing, and in a worse condition), so I am not sure how it's an illusory increase. Granted, it's not profit until sold, and cash is in the bank, but it's as accurate as it can be and not based on estimates or valuations.demontfort wrote: »Other option is to sell up and go and live in Monaco with your illusory 30% property profit, no HA riff raff there one would hope.
Sorry you don't believe or try to convince yourself that the property price is not going up in some parts of the UK, but it surely does in some part of Greater London (I can't comment on other parts, I don't comment on what I don't know). I guess it's down to buying quality properties to start with, in the right locations, and keeping them maintained and tidy. And of course not letting a few HA residents trash the place.
Maybe you are a poor investor yourself, but yet feel like giving advice to other people.0 -
Actually, they are known to have some products costing more than from Asda or Tesco. The manufacturers produce smaller packaging for those shops. I have been to those, and don't mind those shops, as long as they are not next to where I live. I would prefer a Waitrose shop, a Costa, a Hollister, maybe a Jaguar dealer.demontfort wrote: »There's nowt wrong with 99p stores they can be good for picking up cheap essentials, certainly better than all the independent stores selling organic candles and Himalayan baby clothing. You should broaden your mind and give them a go.0 -

Excellent trolling so far, but rather overplayed your hand with that last bit.

Where would you like these people to live?
In the gutter.
They do not deserve to be housed in a decent area if they are treating it this way. House them all on an estate where this happens all the time & they might fit in.
They are pure scum, they should treat where they live with respect.

They should live amongst like-minded people, who don't mind about a bit of litter on the ground, yelling, insults etc0 -

Yes, you don't get many owner-occupiers setting their house ablaze to get handed a new one...0 -

Oh yes we do and its called insurance fraud. It happends more frequently than Social Housing tenants setting fire to their homes.
In fact if tenants did then the landlords would put them in tempory accomadation and either renovate or re-build their existing home so what exactly would they be gaining apart from new paintwork and a bog standard kitchen...
You need to do better than that...;)0 -
I live in a new development with mixed private/HA. So far my experience is:
A) our loudest neighbours are private tenants
the vast majority of HA residents are normal decent people
C) the minority of HA residents who are a nuisance are white British, not the African/Asian/white immigrant households0
