Tesco's special offers on Australian red/whites are a cracking bargain for everyday "glugable" plonk...at £1.89 less 5% for 6 ...they are however not for taking to a party, as its screwtop presentation will certainly not impress, ( no cork pulling athletics with these babies).but hey for sheer value for money get on down to Tesco, and do not be put off if faced with a bare shelf, wait for the part-time Darren/Wayne who fills the shelves and sweet-talk!, unless you are very unlucky there will be oodles in the warehouse
Enjoy the moment especially at these prices.......as an aside for me the 13% red (from the inland regions of South Eastern Australia ) was the better buy, just a personal choice you understand :3

Yes, overall it's certainly better value for money than the 13.5% Shiraz at £9.99 for 3 litres...

How does the Aussie Red compare to the Shiraz for drinkability? I know that's pretty much equivalent to asking how long is a piece of string as everyone's palates differ, but I don't want to go and buy 12 bottles to find I can't drink them

I can't find any £1.87 wine instore or on website, could someone help me find it, or what is the cheapest remaining one?

on the website you need to go to the Groceries section, log in, then search for Tesco Australian Red - it comes up at £1.89 a bottle. Then with codes (found in the Online Discount Vouchers board) you can get the price down even further.

You're right that everybody's taste is different, but to me the £1.89 wine is more "approachable". The Shiraz is more complex, and you know you're drinking 13.5% wine, as it's quite "thick"

I find I can only drink one glass of the shiraz per night - I certainly don't have that feeling with the £1.89 wine! :o

So in my opinion they're both pleasant, but the £1.89 is quite a bit cheaper, therefore better VFM

That's why I like it as I can have just 2 glasses and know I've had enough ;) ... if they're too easy to drink I find I've downed half a bottle before I realise

I might give it a try though as at that price you can hardly go wrong even if it just ends up in the next casserole! ... and yeah I know you're not supposed to cook with anything you wouldn't drink :D

but that's where most of the stuff you can't, or won't, drink ends up - cheeky little wines end up being not quite so cheeky when they've been up against a big bruiser of a hunk, a hunk of burning beef :rotfl:

I really don't think you'll end up putting it in casseroles - this is no Marques de Leon... ;)
