Best Litter for this situation

I second the use of deep clumping litter- it works out more economical as you can reuse so much. I have super deep litter trays. Also have a look for a long-handled litter scoop. I managed to get one from the US that is solid metal-no risk of flicking litter and worth every penny-the long handle makes digging in the litter more bearable (I have one tucked in a gap next to washing machine and I really need a long handle or I can't reach. Also easier to clean if need be. I have had the same scoop (Durascoop)for about 6 years. I haven't seen them for sale in the UK though-I got mine from ebay.
I got one at the same time as the litter, it's holds about 1/3 of the tray, and you just shake it gently, the unused litter falls through the gaps and the lumps stay in, making it super easy to find everything. I just go through the whole tray in about 30 seconds and find everything in one go, no more digging around!

Sand like consistency, minimum tracking, clumps really well and one bag lasts my cats 10 day - mind it, I got 6 of them now.
Another vote for Biokats - switched to it last year (after Getting Ready, Friday Cat & I did a litter test with several litters:D) and have never looked back!I only have two cats and two trays, so presumably, that would last me about a month ? ( I don't have your mathematical skills, so thats a guess) must have a look to see if it would work out any cheaper than the stuff I use, which lasts just over a month.
Blimey ! just had a look, that is cheap !, I shall try that next time I'm buying litter .
You do need a lot at the start - I use a full bag between my 2 trays to get it really deep* but once that's done, you don't use that much - another bag will last me a month topping them up
* it does need to be deep for it to work & the clumps to form properly
TBH I rarely do a full change - if you clean the lumps out the tray frequently it shouldn't need done that often.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I completely clean my litter trays once a month unless they really need it and I don't throw any clean litter out. I just let them run down slightly then sift the litter into a clean tray (I have a spare base for the hoded tray we have) top it up then stick the hood on it. I clean the dirty ones with antibac wipes (fragrance and bleech free) and then top the bath tub (it's a high backed tray that reminds me of a baby bath) back up. We use wood pellet in the open tray in the kitchen though as the kitten likes to paddle in the water and then trudge through the litter tray. He's getting better now though so will likely change to a closed tray with biokat in soon.0

I also only completely clean it out once a month or so, sometimes a bit more frequently in winter (since our cats can only go out during daylight hours). After a few weeks the litter starts to crumble down a bit, so instead of the nuggets you get when it's new, you start to see more sawdusty stuff. I usually take that as my cue to start letting it run down and then I throw it all away and clean the tray properly the next available free weekend day when it's not raining outside!0
