I have a 2 month old daughter and I was planning to buy a baby carrier.
I did a quick search on Amazon and there were loads of them .. could experienced mums please help me decide which one is decent.
I am 5feet3inch and have slight back pain (after pregnancy) so looking for one that doesn't strain my back too much ..
thanks in advance

I asked about this on the Pregnacy fourm a couple days ago, basicly got told that strechy slings are the best for baby and most comfortable, and to avoid actal carriers as they are really bad positioning for baby as all the pressure is in the crotch area and they need to be kept in the frog postion really.
Couldnt comment on back problems as I havn't actally used either! :-)People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
I'm not sure where in the country you are but more than likely there will be a sling library near you. I'd say go along and try them out, as what works for one mum, may not work for you and vice versa. Most libraries allow you to rent the slings/carriers for a period of 2-4 weeks which would give you a proper idea if you like it or not and it's usually very reasonable.
Not all carriers are bad for baby, mostly the high street carriers like Baby Bjorn if worn for long periods of time. Many carriers such as Ergo, ABC (Action Baby Carrier), Madame Goo Goo, Connecta are designed perfectly and keep baby in the optimum position.
But I certainly would go along and try a few before parting with the cash, the ladies are very friendly xThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I am interested in this renting one to try (Got 12 weeks to go yet though) but have no idea how I would even go about finding a sling libraryPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0

Wouldn't go for a stretchy - you're not likely to get more than a couple of month's use out of it now before it becomes uncomfortable.
Be careful buying from Amazon/Ebay - Ergos in particular are having a fake problem on there. I used to use a connecta a lot - not so much nowadays.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Sorry hjacking the thread :-)
Has anyone got one they partilarly recommed that they've used? Im going to have a 14month gap between mine and although I have a double pram its not going to be pratical in alot of situations so a sling/carrier is going to be so much easier.
I had alook at that list and nearest ones probally about 60min drive...People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
I have used a Madame Goo Goo recently and loved it, that being said I still wouldn't say go buy one, it's a lot of cash to spend if it doesn't suit or you find it uncomfortable. It would be worth the drive I'd say to go see, they also give you a good idea of how to get it on/off and they can advise on positioning of baby etcThe frontier is never somewhere else.
