Sometimes you have to spend a little (cheap holiday) to prevent yourself from splurging (nothing to look forward to so "must" buy new x, y and z)

And you need to make sure you get the right balance between debtbusting and enjoying quality family time.

Enjoy your holiday and come back ready to zap some more debt!

Thanks for the words of encouragement all -
think that I'm going to post in here everyday something that I'm doing that's going to help me on my debt free journey or shows an improved attitude to how I spend/ view money to keep me going towards paydays
I know there is a dedicated thread for this but I already cheat on my own diary with loads of other threads. and this could be a useful tool for keeping me motivated between paydays ......

Ok so here goes on my wee motivational posts for myself

    pats on back list :A
    - remembered to take £5 voucher to supermarket
    - made breakfast muffins for OH to use this week
    - no takeaways all weekend

    Kick up @rse list
    - used the £5 voucher as an excuse to go to the new waitrose for items not really needed....

Ahem moving on .......freezer and cupboard are full so can I get to Friday without spending any more on groceries ....it really isn't the end of the world that I have no bananas :eek:nI'm sure everyone else in the house will survive until Friday cause as all us grocery addicts know there is no way I'm going to leave the supermarket with JUST bananas:rotfl:

  • What, no Bananas :shocked:_pale_ Reminds me of my OH's panic when the Brie gets low, I swear he's addicted to it.

Ahh, Waitrose, lovely stuff. I feel hungry just thinking about it.

Like the idea of daily updates - it's also a good way of sharing tips for the rest of us to adopt! :)

    Hello scotdebs

I saw your diary and have read it all :) I am in a very similar position but have been finally knuckling down in the last 5 months to the goal of being DF asap...and I too have a heart attack the minute there is no soft cheese or olives in the fridge. It's a national emergency!!!

OH is now fully on board which helps hugely. Meal planning, ebaying, batch cooking and thinking about every purchase has helped. We also now have a lodger which is great and makes a difference too. But probably the biggest thing has been posting very regularly (daily) so I feel like I am letting myself down in front of folks on here if I have a splurge..seems to work for most people anyway :D

Have subscribed so keep on posting! It's a great very supportive bunch on here :)

    Have a good day

Thanks all glad to see its not just me that thinks a lack of mini breadsticks merits a £60 shop in asda :rotfl:

So yesterday I made ds 1&2 pancakes for their supper as we had run out of them too ( good lord I can hear you say what is going on in that house....... We are also running very low on brioche -) anyway am really annoyed cause a few months ago I found a website that costed out recipes and also compared prices of the items needed at supermarkets and with own brands etc and I can't find the blasted site - would be interesting to know how much my home made ones compare with the ones I bought ( I really should just work it out myself but ......)

So mse activity today involved a bit more baking ( hubby and ds 1 have hollow legs there is literally no feeding them sometimes) and reducing the time the heating comes on in the morning by 30 mins and finding an old Halloween costume of ds1 that will do ds2.

Also looking out some stuff to eBay am starting my make £5 challenge again with a vengeance for November all going towards the Christmas pot.

Lordy Lordy what a spendy day winter boots for ds1&2, football boots and trainers for ds1, clothes for both as well:eek::eek::eek:

All very much needed and long over due ( ds1 been complaining about boots being too small for about a month :( ) total spend just under £150 :eek::eek:

On the good side we have not had a takeaway for over 10 days now and given that our normal friday night curry is just under £30 that pays for one and a half pairs of winter boots :o

Super tight belt for the rest of the month... Ouch can feel it pinching already

Hi brizzle- am still here not been for a few weeks because mse activity at an all time low - debt hasn't increased which is good but lost my momentum on the make £5 a day challenge and with that money just seems to be flying out the door constantly -all for things that I can track and justify but it's meant that little has been happening on the debt busting front with only min payments made this month. However I have now paid off my credit union loan so another debt down :-)

Am stressing about December already even though I have most of money put by for pressies there are just loads of social occasions:beer: have paid off about £2.5k since end of August still aiming to get as close to £3.2k by the end of the year........ then in start of next yr should really be able to make some in roads 2 months of no council tax woo hoo and should get works bonus in feb - wont be much this yr but might pay off a pesky store card that really annoys me but isn't a priority due to amount and interest rate

Right time to get back on the MSE horse :D
