What the heck FE ill take that gold star anyway:D
Plodding on with my make £5 a day challenge and ebaying as much as I can.........once we get to this months payday ill need a new wee target to keep me going think ill aim for enough for a centre parts break for us and the boys who just love the place:p
Argh just remembered 100 days to Christmas :eek:mmmmm perhaps that's where it will all end up goingCC debt Aug 2018 £50.2K

Ok so been a bit naughty and booked a holiday without saving for it - will be paying cash not credit but its cash I could have put towards the debt:o
However it was a bargain (honest gov) going away for 4 night during half term with another family so it's only costing £130 and will give us something to look forward toand means that I will redouble my make £5 a day efforts this month and next - Dh and I get paid later this week so away to play with the spreadsheet

Of all the debts we have the one I hate the most is the hideous barclaycard ( current balance just over £5400)the apr is 29% and the minimum payments they take are only about £1 more than the interest charges for the month:mad:
However I have a plan of almost epic blackadder proportions;)
In checking Dh credit report discovered that his old egg cc ( which only has about £100 on it - had forgotten about it and the dd of £5 comes out the bank every month) actually has limit of £5400 and is now owned by barclaycard - Dh doesn't even have the physical card for the account as they have our old address so I'm going to get him to call them change the address request a new card which will have much lower apr and possible lifetime balance transfer offer type thing. I know they won't let us transfer one bcard balance to another but have worked out a way to shoggle the cards around and basically GET RID
Oh can't wait - just need to get Dh to phone up which he will put off as their customer service is just dreadfulCC debt Aug 2018 £50.2K

So my updated list of shame looks like this and I have now paid off 4.1% of my debt.
Although I have to confesss that I could have paid off a lot more this month but, I have booked a cheap wee holiday for half term and its my birthday *awaits shaking of heads and well deserved tuts from serious MSErs :money:*
The reality is if I had really stretched myself on the overpayments then at somepoint in the month i would have reached for a cc - and then opened the flood gates ........
But I am still on target to payoff over $4k before the end of the yr and get to the 10% paid off target. Xmas is pretty much saved for so there should be no excuse on reaching for the cc's.

Oooo jealous, I want a holiday!! I don't think there's any need for tutting, as you say, you've budgeted for it and you've got Christmas under control, so a little reward goes a long way - enjoy it!LBM Dec 2013, Total Debt £31,992.06 Debt Free Date June 20220

Thanks Suzie over 30k of debt is not going to disappear overnight and I need to be realistic but focused at the same time:D
So had a lovely day today went out for lunch at a restaurant near us that is a bit on the pricey side but I had a £75 voucher and so slap up meal for the 4 of us was only £13.33 :j
Also had a night out with friends last night but we went to all the cheap local pubs and so a very riotous and fun night out only cost £32 including a taxi home ( with chips and curry sauce) - if we had gone into town it would have been 3 times that amount
Feeling rather contented this sunday evening for someone with unsecured debt the size of a small country :rotfl:CC debt Aug 2018 £50.2K

Hi <waves>
just been reading your diary and wanted to say WELL DONE!
I also wanted to share this link with you
www.mysupermarket.com - you can go shopping for groceries and it'll show you which of the big 4 will give you the best price. I usually print the list then go round ALDI and pick up the things that are cheaper there then get the remainder at tesco/ASDA. (I am lucky Tesco is opposite ALDI on the same estate, and ASDA is just the other side of the road)just in case you need to know:

Hi FA *waves back* and thanks for the link. Well diary it's been a bad old month in the scotdebs household to the point where the debt was increased by aprrox £500 during the month:mad: a number of reasons some of the them could have been helped - but plenty could have been avoided
Anyway think I have worked out that despite the massive lapse this month I should still be able to end the month (following payday) in less debt that I started October with and still be on track for overall 10% reduction by the end of 2013:T
I'm quite proud that I have had the guts to come back and admit how usless I have been over this month as this would have normally been the point when I would given up and shoved head firmly back in sand .... But I am determined I won't be starting another diary in 10 months time entitled "How many MORE LBMs will it take" :rotfl:
So pity party over ... Onwards and downwards (with the debt)
Away to play with spreadsheet make a list of all the challenges and targets for 2014 ..... In the words of a great MSE'r time to keep plodding .....CC debt Aug 2018 £50.2K

Will post the full list later but have just worked out the numbers on this rather wet and depressing pay day and despite chucking over £400 on the EVIL ccs this month I have managed to lower my overall debt :j
Debt at 19/8/2013 (LBM No 3) £37035
Debt at 25/10/2013. £34995
Total paid off £2040. 5.5%
Target for end 2013 pay off £4k (10.8%)
Target for March 2014 get under £28k (£9k paid 24%)
Could I get under £15k by end of 2014 .......... Watch this space :-)CC debt Aug 2018 £50.2K
