Sorry, Jem - but no points for your incorrect supposition.
Oh dear - wrong guess. It is a fact though that I do pay tax; that ASDA followed the HMRC week 56 instructions in making its calculations in the relevant month and indeed has made the correct calculations every month during the year; and that no underpayment has resulted.
There can be numerous other reasons - some of which are pension contributions, not working the full year and others which I may not have thought about so far.
Which one do you fit into?I still feel excluded and have little to talk about in the canteen at the moment.
Oh dear. Perhaps you could help them out with avoiding it in 22 years time?0 -

Tax code 0T. My full tax allowance is taken up by the pension from my 'career job'.Oh dear. Perhaps you could help them out with avoiding it in 22 years time?
I've tried. Somebody on here has a sig about playing chess with pigeons...0 -
Tax code 0T. My full tax allowance is taken up by the pension from my 'career job'.
This would also be the case for anyone who has a BR/D0/D1 tax code.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

The only way Asda is likely to help
Is to accept that they knew it would be a 14 pay day year and did absolutely nothing to address the situation.
The outcome is now over 100,000 employees has to pay £126.
Regardless, its a shambles and someone should have divided by 14 instead of 13.
I work for a company with over 170,000 employees, I don't think its too much to expect them to work out my tax affairs correctly. Let alone the other 169,999 folks.0 -

Have you actually read any of this thread or are we as well banging our heads off a brick wall?
For the umpteenth time, Asda worked out your tax correctly and followed HMRC guidelines to do so. They had no other option but to do this.0 -
Well in that case we'll have to agree to disagree.
I find it unacceptable that blindly following HMRC's guidelines is an excuse to work out so many employee's tax incorrectly and not inform them that come July 2013 HMRC will be sending them a letter and ultimately that as a result of this they can kiss goodbye to their entire bonus for last year.
Lets get this straight, if they had worked it out correctly tens of thousands of people wouldn't be getting tax demands now, would they?
And similarly HMRC wouldn't be needing to spend millions replying to lots of annoyed asda employees.0 -

They did not blindly follow HMRC's guidelines and incorrectly worked out your tax. They followed the only procedure that PAYE allows.Lets get this straight, if they had worked it out correctly tens of thousands of people wouldn't be getting tax demands now, would they?
Yes they would as that is what the PAYE system allows. And similarly HMRC wouldn't be needing to spend millions replying to lots of annoyed asda employees.
Again that is the only system that's in place - rightly or wrongly.
Perhaps you need to campaign for HMRC to change its system as they are the only ones who can change anything. The employer does not have that choice so venting at Asda will achieve nothing.0 -

There are rules to follow, Asda followed them, Get Over It.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.
