Need advice on Renting and Possible Help to Rent (Housing Benefit?)
Comments

i don't want a house share with other people, no way
my band that i play in works Fridays and Saturdays which is why i cannot find a job Monday to Thursday anywhere
i cant do Fridays and music is the best thing i can do
my band travels internationally doing gigs as well
if i could just find a 4 day a week job0 -
Also visit your local housing team for an idea of waiting list time for social housing properties. Wait lists can be long but as I explained if you are willing to move to an undesirable area they may be able to provide a bed sit or such.
Where are you based?0 -
currently based near Faringdon in Oxfordshire0

I'm sorry to be blunt but if your music isn't going to pay the bills then you can't afford your own place.
Why should the tax payer fund your housing benefit because you don't want to get a full time job so you can pay your bills?
Things can't be that bad living with your alcoholic mother and sister if you prefer it to a flat share.
Again, sorry to be harsh but you need to be realistic here.0 -
my music can pay my bills, i just need some help towards some rent0

and they are VERY BAD actually
i just dont want to have to share with a load of other people, what is wrong with that?0 -

Sorry but if you can't pay your own rent, then no, it can't.
Plenty of people work full time and pay their own way in life without benefits and work as a part time musician on the side.
Its not really fair you want the taxpayers to "help towards your rent" when from the sounds of it you're perfectly capable of working to pay it yourself, you just choose not to.
Again I'm sorry if I sound harsh but I think the majority of people will agree with me.0 -

I'm trying to be realistic in helping you work towards your own place. As I explained it would just be a stepping stone from moving out of your parents to getting your own flat.
You say you don't want to be living at home at 40 but you seem unwilling to compromise despite having no savings to assist the move to your desired situation, so unless you start to think differently, I expect you still will be0 -
i don't care about what YOU did, so please don't compare yourself with me and do NOT judge me as you dont really know MY situation
i work 12 - 15 hours per day, 2 times a week, doing gigs along with all the travelling
the Music i do is a large part of my income, along with my part time job i do 2 - 3 times a week
i cannot just drop my Music as i have worked hard at it for 14 years
there is i`m sure a way to get help working part time along with my band, based on MY income, as i am sure other people will do in "my industry"0 -
and these days, a single person where i live CANNOT afford their own place, unless they have a well paid job, what with rent, food, bills.. infact, everyone i know has a partner or is married, which means YES, with 2 incomes, its easily do-able0
